Rasgueo

I picked up a tip on another site by classical guitarist David Russell.
He suggests for practice purposes only, to save wear on your nails - put some cellotape over your nails.
I tried it this morning, and it works a treat, especially when you are like myself, learning rasgueo's, you tend to be causing more wear than you'd normally do because you're wearing out the nails more, to learn the technique.
Its a bit tricky, cutting to the right size, but once they are on, they last for ages.
And no splitting nails in the future, I hope.
I find that I am trying harder now that I know the nails are'nt getting damaged quite the same as they would without the tape.

Hi my friend

I have been learning rasguedo too
I recommend not to use anything when you practice
its not good for your nails
Eventually your nails will get used to it
if you applly external things it will weaken your nails

practice slowly, take rest between strokes
the key is the practicing slowly, one finger and another

I'd put the tape on only for strength exercises and take it off right afterwards.

Anything you do differently practising will have an influence how you play normally. When your rasgueo starts flowing you'll be concentrating on the way your nails hit the strings to get a certain tone, the tape would be a problem then because you'll need the sensitivity.
