Ramon Ruiz London shows 15th, 16th Oct

Hi all

following on from another post, here are the details of Ramon Ruiz's forthcoming shows in London - they are being held at Quecumbar which is in south London (Battersea).

Fiesta Flamenca
Sunday 15th October, Quecumbar, £12

A night of guitar song and dance
"A dynamic tour de force which has an extraordinary mesmeric dimension; a rare and powerful combination driven by passion"

London's favourite flamenco guitarist "Ramon Ruiz" is a brilliantly lyrical guitarist, equally well-versed in flamenco and Latin rhythms and the real deal. He has all the flavour of Spain running through his blood and he is joined for an intimate night of Spanish fever by Anita La Maltesa, British born from Maltese origins, who is equally well-versed in Flamenco dancing and singing that instantly transports her audience to a hot Spanish night with her warm and haunting voice. On Cajon Genevieve Wilkins is an Australian born percussionist and music educator based in London who has travelled to Spain to study Flamenco Cajon with renowned drummer and percussionist Guillermo McGill.

Alcazaba
Monday 16 October, Quecumbar, £13
Headed up by Ramon Ruiz on Spanish guitar - has created a unique yet instantly recognizable sound moving flamenco into a new exciting era. He combines gypsy traditions with ethnic rhythms fusing musical influences from around the world ( from Asia to Latin America). A Spanish flavoured acoustic instrumental trip around the world with Ramón's guitar work leading and the band creating a unique and vibrant transcultural sound- this is real music with a rhythm that's gets under your skin and keeps you spell bound. http://www.fiestaflamenca.com/

Alcazaba is a group without boundaries, blending music originating in the ancient sultanates from Andalusia through Mesopotamia to northern India. These diverse musical traditions are linked as all these areas were once under Muslim rule and were therefore influenced by each other . The musicians of the group are Ramón Ruiz (Flamenco Guitar), Attab Haddad (Iraqi Oud), Teymour Housego

(Indian and jazz Flutes), Genevieve Wilkins (Percussion) and Eva Piñero Mesa (Flamenco Vocals)
