Aaron Green guitars

As many on this forum are aware, I own a Green blanca. As of the last few weeks I have had the pleasure of responding to several request from forum menbers as of my opinion's of Aaron's guitars and am more than happy to do so in the future.

Many newer members may not have seen the great review from the former moderator/owner of Flamencotheacher.com, Dimitri Stamatis, on Aaron's guitars.

Gee Patrick. All this talking about DeVoe's and Green's.
It makes me curious how you play those baby's. Can't you upload something or is there some audio from you in the archives somewhere ?

I'm looking forward to my Green that's due aound February, and I believe I was one of those that contacted you regarding your Green.
I love his guitars. Great sound. In the last year I played two of them and I hope my Blanca turns out as great.

Aaron Green deserves just as much recognition as those makers we constantly discuss on this forum.

You can find some stuff in the archives. I am on the "Group Solea" and "Group Tangos", but trust me I am a better horse trader than a guitar player. Being one of the senior members (nice way of saying old), I have to play for an hour or two just to start to limber up my fingers and by then it's past my bed time!

I think he deserves more. Trust me, the guys name is going to be in the guitar history books.

Get one now, while you can still afford it.

I haven’t heard one personally, but know of several around and have heard exceptional reviews. Here are a couple of reviews from a friend of mine that has a phenomenal collection of world-class guitars (you name it, he owns it). He owns a Green Brazilian negra and a Green blanca.

Hi Pat,

Here are the photos. These are exquisite flamenco guitars with wonderful sound, craftsmanship and finish, which put them in the same class as Manuel Reyes, Arcangel Fernandez and Gerundino. Aaron's guitars seem to be more consistent as compared to a lot of these well-known luthiers. The negra here is more metallic sounding whereas the blanca is more throaty and earthy sounding.

My insert: and yes he does own a Reyes, Fernandez and a Gerundino

Dear Aaron,

I have tested your guitar against a 2002 Lester Devoe (Indian rosewood) and a 1977 Hermanos Conde (Brazilian) built by Faustino. Have I mentioned to you that I have a daughter who has sensitive ears? Whilst she does not play guitar but violin and piano but she is gifted in sound. She can tell the differences in simple language.
Her assessment is (verbatim):
1. Devoe - very clear.
2. Conde -loud, echo, sound deep.
3. Green- very clear, loud, enough echo.

I cannot describe in better and clearer terms. The Conde has the old and powerful basses but the trebles are slightly behind. The Devoe has clear sound but does not have the high voicing as the Green. The Green is so echoic and has brilliant trebles and overall high voicing. It also has the Spanish tone, more Spanish than the Devoe.

The winner is Aaron Green! I will change the strings to Savarez Corum which will give this guitar even more clarity separation in rasqueados .
I attach some photos including the backs of negra Gerundino, Tezanos Perez and a modern CondeAF25 R, all in Brazilian.

So there you go. Oh by the way, I now own the 2002 DeVoe he is talking about. All I can say is it is world-class and he said the Green negra is better!

Hey Pat,

You'll die a happy man!

I own a Green Negra, Madagascar rosewood. I find it exceptional. I think your friend's daughter captured it, this guitar has it all, briliiance like you've never heard, loud and clear. One thing she didn't mention (as she plays violin and piano, not guitar) is it's playability. I remember the first time I picked my guitar up and played on it. Felt like butter on my fingers. So easy to play. The only guitar I played that compares in terms of playability is a Manuel Reyes I once played (which to be fair played a little better in the higher registers, though in terms of sound my Green surpasses).

BTW, right now I have the Savarez chorum strings on it, but I prefer to put the Savarez red card strings on it.
