GuitarPro

I want to begin to take advantage of some of the music posted in the TABS section. It would appear that the majority of this music is in either TablEdit or GuitarPro with some pdf and a scattering of other formats.

IIRC TablEdit is freeware but GuirtarPro is about $60.00 US. So, in your opinion, would having these two programs allow me to get most of the stuff in the TAB section?

Is GuitarPro backwards compatible? The current version is 5, so will it work with gp4,3 etc?

Thanks

Yes gp5 works with gp4 and 3. I think its the very best tabbingprogamm of today. Powertab is a free tool, too. But its very unconfortable. I dont like it. Tabledit is a lot better than powertab and free.

Yes, except some which were made with powertab or the pdf ones.

GP5 can also import tabledit and powertabs and midis.

It will publish to previous versions of GP files, midi and I think PDF or image files.

But be aware that gp3 and gp4 are not always compatible with gp5 without updating the software.

Thats normal.... You cant use a file which is made with word 2000 in a version of word 98... Its the same with all software... And you cant open a tab which is made with tableedit4 in tableedit3. The same with powertab.
