Cool!!!

You're playing those classical pieces the way i always
imagined they should be played.
Sort of like what Paco did with Aranjuez.
Finally, somebody got it right.

The Albeniz , imho, benefits greatly by your more
muscular style.
You're like Barrueco, but with great rhythm, and more speed.

Damn you!!!!

Im definately buying this one.

RE: My new CD (in reply to Grisha

Thank you, friends! This CD is pretty strange, as I played classical in a flamenco way and flamenco in a classical way. You'd probably enjoy the golpes I put even in Granada! All the interpretations are very personal. I did not attempt to copy the original in sound or feel, it's more of a reflection of it. There are some spots there that I enjoy, others that I would play differently now. But it captures the way I felt those 2 days. Thank you again!

By the way, for those of you who would like to hear me live, and want to enjoy other interesting performances in different genres, check out the Boston GuitarFest 2006:

http://www.vgorecordings.com/ConcertSeries/Boston_GuitarFest_2006.pdf

It is going to be a very interesting event. You'll hear Maestro Eliot Fisk, amazing harpsichordist John Gibbons, sitarist Peter Row, prize-winning Borromeo String Quartet and many more. You also might enjoy private lessons with my father Dmitry and a masterclass with Robert Ward.

Or, maybe you want to compete!

Wow, i might have to attend that one.

Grisha, can you comment on the gear used to make your CD??

What guitar? What mic or mics? How far away were the mics?

What sort of room did you play in?

The sound is wonderful. Mainly due to your hands of course,
but i'd love to know the gory details if you dont mind.:)

Your Cadiz is outstanding!
Cant wait to hear the whole piece.

Todd, I wish I knew the gear! The mike was about 2 meters from me I would say, maybe closer. And I played my classical Steve Connor guitar.

Todd, if you come we'll jam together, amigo!

Sounds great Grisha, looks like you have a real niche there. Interesting to hear Albeniz played on a blanca (..least I assume it is!), gives it a whole new quality.

Best of luck with your CD.

Grisha,

Congradulations! Really great interpretations of the Albeniz. You control and bring out the melodies and accompanyment very well. Your flamenco really made me stop and think too, since I've been working on removing my classical sound from my flamenco playing for a while now ... maybe I had that all wrong :) You should be very proud of this debut.
