Anybody aware of videos of Manolo or...

Hi all,

I've long wanted to work on some of the fixed-rhythm pieces on Tauromagia, and for me, it's extremely useful and inspiring to see others perform them first (finger positions, right-hand technique, etc.)

Does anybody know if there are any videos of Manolo or others playing these pieces with a reasonable view of the hands ?

I know this album is extremely popular, but for some reason never see others performing these works.

Best,
Joe

He plays Tauromagia exactly as recorded in this concert starting at 22 minutes.

What a gem !!! Thanks so much Ricardo.

Poor Manolo - I think if he was born any time in history other than alongside PDL he would have gotten much more recognition. Granted, he is renowned among Flamenco enthusiasts, but his world recognition pales in comparison to Paco's. For example - very few learn and share his pieces on the internet (not that the 'pros' couldn't do that if they wanted to - but still the up and coming don't seem to choose his pieces either)

And his playing and composing - absolutely amazing...he makes very sophisticated playing look so much easier than PDL, if you know what I mean - much less hand movement but still incredible lines.

Actually I became a fan because of Compadres…and later the Sevillanas movie. That made me want to get his albums (of which I only like Tauromagia at first). So Paco was actually his biggest promoter, and my only disappointment is that they never completed a full length album…a sort of upgrade of Sabicas/Escudero or Paco’s own duets with Modrego and his brother. We do have Paco’s trio with banderas and Cañizares which was great…but man a full album of stuff like compadres and that sevillanas would be pure gold.

In the end don’t feel bad for Manolo, he made a **** ton of money on the stupid Caballo Negro disco song, and has huge prestige in the world of flamenco, being featured also in both Flamenco movies is huge for posterity, and in the end, most guitar players that understand the genre acknowledge Tauromagia as the best album of flamenco guitar in history, despite the fact we follow much closer the work of Paco for inspiration.

A year or two ago Santiago Lara was studying and performing this material. There were some really inspiring videos of him practicing it on his Facebook page.
