OLDEST used GUITAR suitable to buy

Hi..
among used guitars in the market for sale, which ones are suitable for a real using for playing and which ones are such as the collectors items? for example, a guitar that is built on the time of World War II, is a good guitar for playing even if it is a health guitar in a good situation (not an expired guitar)?

Guitars do not automatically expire after a certain time. Their condition depends upon the care they have received during their life. Many guitars from the mid-1800s survive in eminently playable condition. Many much younger guitars which have been subjected to rapid drying-out, overheating or other unfortunate events are unplayable.

Of course, the older the instrument, the greater the chance it has experienced poor conditions.

My advice would be to be sure you could inspect and play the instrument before buying it.

I have violated this advice only once. It resulted in the purchase of my favorite blanca.

If you are not sure of the guitar's condition, you might take it to an expert for evaluation, if one is available.

Nylon started getting used in 1950’s and was supposed to be higher tension than what old guitars used (gut strings). So a guitar older than 1950 I might personally consider using gut strings on or at least, low tension nylon.
