Wow, it's a really good recording and it doesn't hurt that it is the PDL I like.

Ok, went to the utube channel to get some more info, it's in Spanish so no joy there but it seems two guitars playing? It wasn't clear.

Any more info about this concert for the... um, initiated please?

There is another recording of the same concert but different date?

Thanx for posting, over did it yesterday and this was perfect for my slow walk PT this morning.

Wish there was a good way to keep track/catalog the good utube recordings that wasn't such a nut-ride :/

Also, where does this guy get these pristine quality 'dry' feeds from?

This and other stuff he's posted sounds like what would come direct from the mic into the mixer.

Check out these more recent uploads:

Great find! Is this the same concert with more tracks, or a different night at the Teatro Real, or a different concert altogether? Also weird that the set list order is jumbled up, I thought the first half would have been solo and the second half duets. He must have played more tracks at the original concert than the 8 on the disc - should have been a double!

Ramzi,
Just a mater of personal preference but this is the PDL that I don’t care for at all, couldn’t get past the first 30 seconds, scrolled back up and now listening to the fist recording on this thread, enjoying it more then the first time earlier today. Felt the same about the yellow thing posted on another thread, something missing or perhaps to much of a tonal element that just seems soulless but I me, ya I know it’s a vary personal thing at this level, not sure it even ads anything to the conversation but I’m here kicking back, thinking it’s time for another glass of wine, my hands are sore and fingertips raw from a really good playing session, now time to kick back and soak it in...

HR

ps. Glad you keep sharing there regardless of what I like, cause one never knows

The first eight seconds are so interesting - just before the usual opening. Like a mini study of unusual harmonic motion (where he started; where he ended up). And a lovely melodic phrase.

(Paco would be like - "Ummm, I was just tuning, dude" )

(Sorry, this should be something like "Ummm, solo estaba afinando, tio" )

The truth is PACO did a lot of concerts so this could actually be from a different venue. The audience actually sounds fake to me. The sound is clearly off the soundboard with the low end cut out. Both audience and Ramon would be bleeding through the mic, so that audience would never sound so present. The album that was released in 1975 was an ambient recording hence the audience noise and the wooly guitar tone. I read Paco also played Rondeña and buleria both suffered tuning problems and were omitted. No film exists, there was a clip in Francisco Sanchez but it is not Teatro Real with the pipe organ, so different venue and guitar.

Someone claims this to be at the actual Teatro Real, but as far as bootlegs go people keep and trade things and as it passes through hands over time the original info is lost. That is way the commercial Industry was always against bootlegging, not for loss of sales but lack of control over the artistic product. The sequence of the show is also suspect, he would always start solo then add Ramon after an intermission. Could even be more than one concert therefore. Finally, the Almoraima material is a bit fresh compared to the rest, meaning it might even be from 1976. Regardless it IS representative of what paco was doing at the time Teatro Real made a big splash in Spain, and the performance he gives whatever or wherever it was is great.

Wow I can't believe they play Paco de Lucia's music in elevators in your area - so lucky!

These recordings are from RNE (Radio Nacional de España).

Los tres conciertos son Producción propia de RNE. En mi opinión el del Monumental es muy superior, en sonido e inspiración, al "En vivo desde el Teatro Real". Que yo sepa permanece inédito y es una de las joyas del Archivo de RNE.

These youtube links are only audio files. In this case I'd prefer mp3. So I found the original mp3 source in 256 kbit/s. If you guys are interested, here are 5 recordings uploaded from 29. Dec 2020 to 04. Jan 2021 on rtve.es. Search for paco and you'll find them with comments to each concert and titles here.

I think I mostly figured out what is going on here.

This video is a mishmash (pieces out of order) from another concert four days after Teatro Real - at Teatro Monumental in Madrid on Feb 22, 1975. And there is some editing done and it seems some pieces don't quite match the Teatro Monumental source - like Aires Choqueros. Actually the Teatro Monumental Aires Choqueros (from the RNE links below) is just mind blowing.

Nicolas Radovic, who posted this above, seems to have had independent access to it (whatever "it" is - either the way he presents it or several recordings that he edited and spliced together that way) - since he posted it on Dec 17, 2020 - 13 days before RNE (Radio Nacional de Espana), which owns the recordings, posted the first part on Dec 30 and the rest on Dec 31, 2020.

Radovic possibly thought it was a second version of the Teatro Real done the same day, but I think it is now clear from comparing the audio that this is not the case (and how likely is it that Paco would have done two complete concerts with audience on the same Feb 18?)

Both have mislabelled some pieces, but I take it the correct order and the entirety of the concert is as given by the recording creator, RNE:

PACO DE LUCIA: Concierto en el Teatro Monumental. 22 febrero 1975. Madrid.

Solo:
01. Recuerdo a Patino (Alegrías)
02. Aires de Linares (Tarantas)
03. Guajiras de Lucía (dedicada a su madre)
04. Bulerias (mostly Cepa Andaluza + some Almoraima?)
05. Reflejo De Luna (Granainas)
06. Panaderos Flamencos (missing from the Radovic version)
07. Doblan Campanas (missing from the Radovic version)
88. Zapateado
09. Cuando Canta El Gallo (Solea)
10. Aires Choqueros (Fandango De Huelva)

Continuing with Ramon de Algerciras:
11. El Tempul/La Plazuela (Bulerias; both Paco and Ramon can be heard unlike the Radovic version which seems to be just the PdL feed)
12. Farolillo de Feria (Guajiras)
13. Entre dos Aguas (Rumba; this and the Radovic version seem different; or is it the channels again)
14. Los Pinares (Tangos; missing from the Radovic version)
15. Finale (Entre dos Aguas bis)

The RNE commentary says that this concert remains officially unpublished but they see it as better as a recording and inspiration than the Teatro Real record:

"En mi opinión el del Monumental es muy superior, en sonido e inspiración, al "En vivo desde el Teatro Real". Que yo sepa permanece inédito y es una de las joyas del Archivo de RNE."

https://www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/discopolis/paco-lucia-monumental-madrid-1975-31-12-20/5747937/ (the rest of the concert)
