eh? Spanish flu was post-WW1, and they both made it well into the 1970's....

I just got amused that a trump criticizer made the exact same type of error. It’s hilarious to me. Even funnier, so did you (WW1 1914-Nov 1918)

Now you've really lost me, I made the "same" mistake?

What mistake did I make?

WW1 1914-1918, "Spanish" flu 1918-1920

February 1918-November 1918 is “During” WW1 not after it, 9-10 months of overlap, longer than what we have endured. Anyway, now the joke is not funny anymore.

That was only a small part of a much longer epidemic though.... I said "post ww1" so i got the right freaking war, which was the main point i was making, and most of the flu epidemic was after the war, and most of the war was before the epidemic, with only some overlap, but seeing as we are now into a full on pedantry contest, i will have to add that the first wave of the "spanish" flu in 1918 was a typical seasonal flu that killed the elderly and infirm, it wasn't until later in the year that the second wave started that was more deadly and killed young healthy people as well, and that wave continued after the war ended, and was followed by a 3rd and 4th wave.... so in that sense there were only a few months overlap....

Happens almost every time. You get a good parody - send up rolling and everyone is improvising nicely when all of a sudden a guy comes in who doesn’t get the play and he starts fact checking the improvised humor.

In comedy improv classes the first rule is never say no. When someone hands you a line you spin it and throw it back out, usually quite rapidly. It’s a reflexes and stream of consciousness play, it’s not intended to be factual, or correct, it’s designed to allow strange juxtapositions of language and metaphor blend into a comic arc.

BUT SOME GUYS MISS THE POINT AND ACT LIKE IT’S A BURDEN TO PLAY ALONG AND I CAN ONLY SAY ONE THING

WELL EXCUUuuuuuusssssE MEeeeeE!

I was talking about Ricky Ritardo from DC not you. Ricky is a tedious fact checker who always breaks the levity.

Ricky can’t sing babaloo unless he does it like Judas Priest at a karaoke bar

Parody is so 20th century. Welcome to the age of Kek. You can't out-parody this reality.

The good news is that, since parody and satire are dead, this might be the golden age for nerds like me. I'm pretty sure I've already heard people qualify my generation as "the rise of the puns".

Not that there's anything new about it. After all, it's just a repeat of the Punic wars of old. Why do you think they're called that in the first place? The Romans were fond of parody. Then they were told on good authority that Hannibal was skiing down the Alps on war elephants. Parody just couldn't function in that kind of world. That was the turning point of the Punic wars, when the parodists began to lose against the punists.

Unsheathe your swords fellow punists and put on some war paint. This is our time. Parodia delenda est.

You put the ‘ire’ in satire, and the pain in Spain.

Cato the Elder disguised as a flamenco guitarist?

Not to be confused with his equally famous great-grandson, Catito, who played guitar, along with his son-in-law Brutito, for the great cantaor El Maricon Julio.

Personal grievances got in the way and they disbanded. El Maricon had developed a heavy habit of sniffing coke while on tour. Brutito was a convert to el culto, and couldn't stand the drug abuse.

When he confronted El Maricon about it, El Maricon threatened to leave the band and move to Philadelphia, where coke was plentiful and easy of access. The argument got increasingly heated. Up until the point that Brutito accidentally scratched El Maricon with his right-hand thumb nail.

El Maricon shouted: "That's it. I can't take this anymore. I choose the coke way in Phillie." And stormed off.

Get it? Tu quoque mi fili... the coke way in Phillie...

...

Beware, the punists are coming. Prepare to sigh and facepalm with spainfully unfunny jokes.
