New, Kent based

Hello all - I recently got back to my flamenco, having studied for quite a few years but quite a few years ago (in London) - so I'm rusty but have loved flamenco guitar for many years. I previously studied classical but found the range of repertoire available a bit restrictive and also found I tended to like the Spanish writers anyway, then I discovered Almoraima by accident one day - all change.
Been playing bass almost forever, and mainly play fretless these days - so there's a nail issue, I have them for the flamenco but need to take care when playing bass.
(Also have a tenor Uke).
Using an Esteve 8F at the moment, had a Conde A26 but sold it when it wasn't being used much. A string of basses... that's about it.
Keen to discover players and recordings - I really like Moraito, Paco Serrano, Pepe Habichuela, Juan Carmona... and quite a few others! I do think Moraito was a bit of a star though :)

Hello Kent,

Please forgive me if I cut and past what I just wrote to another new member just a moment ago.

Never been to to Kent, but I did come across from Calie on the ferry, kicked some dart ass in a pub in Cantabury intol the local boys were out of cash and wanted to kick mine... It was a long long time ago... I just recall the ATM spitting out so
Silver white twenty pound notes and looking at my lady and saying, I hope this is real money. Typical Yank.

Past-O-rama:

Welcolm to the Foro.

I'm fairly new here myself and new to Flamenco. I came here in a roundabout way by building guitars and there is an insta link on the bottom of this post. My dream is to build hoping to learn enough to make more someone will want to play.

Kinda funny, I always wanted to,play Flamenco since I was an early teen but I didn't know how to ask. I studied classical for a couple years then had a family. So here I am almost fifty five, my hands mostly ruined by good hard work, scratching strings like no one is listening and I didn't gave a damn if they were. I'm in it for the joy of making my flamenco, or rather as its joked about here on the Foro, my Flamigo ;)

Plenty of info if you dig around here and there.

A good verity of members from all over the world and plenty of good advise and many opinions. I joke that we are a well functioning disfunctional family.

I was recently whacked by a moose so I've spent the last three monthes on my back playing a good four hours a day, can't say I'm any better then when I started but during the first two monthes of pain pills I was a flamingo God! Now that I'm back on Tynolnal and nerv blockers am just another American with hit and miss compass and my rasgueo sounds like a nine cylender airplane moter hitting on only seven, or six?..
