Please check out my friend and subsc...

Hi.

My friend Jose recently started being more active on Youtube and needs more support as he is dedicating his entire time to it. I think he is very underrated for someone of such talent. Like Luciano he has dedicated his entire play style to studying and teaching Vicente Amigo style. He has a patreon for slowed down versions of some of Vicente's pieces which are payed with good accuracy.

Please show him some support and love

Cool. I gave him a sub. Hopefully he can work his way up to reaching the minimum needed for monetization.

I've heard him before. For me he sure adds power and definition. The sort of stuff I like.

I saw his video of him playing Vicentes buleria a few years back when he had short hair. Didn’t recognize him!

Long hair! No wonder. We talked about this a few months ago.

Solid. How is he not getting into copyright troubles on YouTube / in general (with Vicente) though? I see he's from Cordoba, so perhaps a friend of Vicente's?

In our talks he mentioned having enjoying Vicente's concerts and company. I am sure he has his blessing for doing this.

Fair use clause traditionally covered or allowed for tutorials, however things have changed. Rick Beato talks extensively (complains) about the state of things on youtube. Basically they have bots or loser humans hired to scan the search band for red flag-able things and elements that MIGHT be violations. Next they force the uploader (regardless if they are in the right or not) to allow an advertisement which the supposed (c) owner can then collect advertising royalty for. Rarely (or never?) does a true (c) owner or composer flag somebody’s video anymore. In most cases the true owner (it HAS to be a publisher even if it’s a self published artist) is not the person flagging anything. Counter claims are lost in cyberspace. There is no human to get on the phone with to talk about it.

To be fair when **** was out of control in the past (people ripping commercially available DVDs and such, destroying the market honestly, and uploading like crazy) this solution to force advertising made sense. But now things have reversed and there are people out there ripping off true artists and teachers. Here is a funny example in my case.

I have a private video of my live performance of my Flamenco arrangement of Bach Chaconne written in 1720. Despite it being public domain, plus my unique arrangement in Flamenco style, AND private setting only viewed by myself a few times, some damn robot or something flagged it, and some a s s holes out there are collecting royalties from some poor shmuck advertising company or product, everytime I watch it!!! 😂

Great playing there, thanks for sharing!

Memoria de los Sentidos is my most favorite album by Vicente, I'd love to see a full cover of "La Fragua" and "Puente de los Orfebres" !

Ramzi, maybe you should get a nickel for every cover of Roma on uTube l

It’s good that guys like Beato are fighting back at this at least.

Antonio Rey flags his uploads as well. Just saw a hearing with Don Henley complaining in court about this ****. These rare individuals, true artists that want to control a product that they can’t, that were never properly educated in publishing, yet seem to think they are and further more are living in the past when what they were after was actually achievable. They are not saving themselves money by trying to take things down or change the system now. I’m sure a guy who actually owns his own publishing like Steve Vai doesn’t waste his time going around youtube flagging all his material. It’s really pointless exercise in trying to hold on to an antiquated idea. Most likely he puts his mind and control of his catalogue to better use.

Yup, He just made a copyright claim on a video I posted years ago of him playing a picado exercise. I’ve seen other videos of him taken down, like a venue that put of a video on their page with a clip of the live show. But the irony is that Antonio is not loosing out in ad revenue because he doesn’t post much content, and the publicity might draw more people to discover him.

He’s got something against USA I noticed years ago some of his own vids were blocked in USA. It might be he doesn’t like the performances as an evolving artist, plus maybe he believes a DVD and CD would be commercially successful? He will never be able to concertize like paco Tomatito or Vicente unless he changes that attitude. He will stay an under ground elite Guy. Nothing wrong with that either, it’s just that he is at their level of performance so it’s a shame. I was really looking forward to see him again and hopefully talk with him about some of that online stuff to be honest. Oh, well.

Well I wish the original poster here and his guitarist friend all the best. I have started monetizing my YouTube channel, so I delete anything that gets copyright claimed because in the past I got a strike overnight from a Syrian pop artist who ruined my Arabic pop channel and forced me to close it, so I don't mess around anymore. I basically have 30 different versions of me playing the same damn solea falsetas for the past 10 years anyway, so I won't be quitting my medical career for YouTube any time soon, but it is nice to get enough money every couple of months to buy some pizza and think that was accounted for by my artistic talent.

There is no such thing, if you read what I wrote above. Unless it’s a unique artist that owns his own publishing with a dinosaur mentality.

This is only in your head.

It's not him. It's his greedy american agent. USA is a big market for any artist. So his agent believes a DVD and CD would be commercially successful.

actually Robert Fripp is owner of all his works, he has his own publishing label "DGM"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discipline_Global_Mobile

and all King Crimson /DGM pressings/CDs have a writing on the back
quote:

The phonographic copyright in these performances is operated by Discipline Global Mobile on behalf of the artist and compositor, with whom it resides, contrary to common practice in the record industry. Discipline accepts no reason for artists to assign the copyright interests in their work to either record company or management by virtue of a "common practice" which was always questionable, often improper, and is now indefensible.

It's a noble idea, yet in times of YouTube and Spotify downright in-practicable. He opened up a bit and put the King Crimson catalog on Spotify a year or so ago.
