Dear members,
I am happy to join this forum. Something about myself:
my name is Jan van Dorst and I am from the Netherlands.
For several years I try to learn to play flamenco guitar.
It is difficult but very beautiful.
With the help of this forum it is even better to keep the flamenco feeling alive.

Jan,
welcolm to the Foro.

I am fairly new to the Foro, playing flamenco, and I've been building guitars as well.

Plenty of good talent here with a broad spectrum of experience. Look around the various threads and ask questions.

Some powerful opinions here as well but don't let that scare you away, we just like a good discussion that includes passion for what we feel is right. Feel free to jump right in.

Tell us more about your experience. What guitar do you play? What is it you want to learn? And what is it you feel you can add to our slightly dysfunctional community.

I like dysfunctional. Dysfunctional is good. It's like duende. Or duendes

Anyway welcome Jan

Welcome to the Foro. There is an incredible group of flamenco aficionados here, and many have far-ranging interests that go way beyond flamenco. As a result, you may find the "Off-Topic" discussions as interesting as those that are flamenco-oriented.

Hello Ernandez,
Thank you for your welcome.
Very interesting that you have built guitars. I myself have also worked a lot with wood but never made a guitar. Very specialist work.
I would like to follow discussions and participate in them.
To me, flamenco is not just playing the guitar itself, it means so much more.
I myself play on a Vicente Sanchis mod. No. 40 bought in 1995.
My guitar has been damaged by water and is in need of a better one.
What I want to learn is just simple authentic flamenco.
I don't have to be a virtuoso player, but enjoying nice compás and minor chords already means a lot to me.
I'm not sure yet what I can add to the forum, but it will become clear to me.
Regards, Jan

Hi Flyeogh,
Thanks for your word of welcome.
And yes, luckily many things in life are not just functional.
Music is an example of this.
Music is not a basic necessity of life like food, but it gives meaning and color to life.
And is very beneficial for the mind.
Regards, Jan

Hi Peter,
I live in Leeuwarden.
And there is nothing to do in the area of flameco here in Friesland.
In the past I often went to Groningen for this, for les et cetera.
I am therefore very happy with this forum, I think it is very interesting.
Thank you for your response and best regards,
Jan

Hi BarkellWH,
Thank you for your message of welcome.
It always seems good to me to be open and explore new and related areas.
That is also why I am happy with this forum.
(By the way, I have read and enjoyed Don Quixote's books, highly recommended)
Best Regards, Jan
