I started using bidet’s in the last decade because I’ve been visiting the EU more often. I’m still not sure if I’m using them correctly, but if I ever remodel my bathroom I’m going to put one in. They just seem cleaner, and you definitely feel cleaner, too, when in the habit of using one.
Maybe they’ll catch on here in NA at some point. I hope so. Not only does their use seem to be more hygienic, but the use of less toilet paper also saves trees.
The shelves are empty here, too. TP and all liquid hand washing products are gone. The streets are also very quiet. I think the gravity of the situation is sinking in. But I also think that might be a good thing, as I believe social distancing is going to make a big difference in how this will play out, and that’s only going to occur after people get a little scared. After the hoarders are done with the first waves of panic buying then the shelves will hopefully return to normal. If they don’t, I expect there will be some form of rationing legislation or measures brought into play.

It's not just toilet paper, Ramzi. Crises tend to bring out the best and the worst in people. Marta and I have been spending a month in Arizona, and we are experiencing this crisis in Tempe, but it would be the same if we were home in Washington, DC. There is no need to buy tons of toilet paper, just as there is no need to stock up on cases and cases of bottled water. If everyone just bought a little more than usual, the shelves would remain stocked and everyone would be able to get what is needed.
What I find particularly disgusting are those who check out of the supermarket with five to ten times what they need, leaving the shelves bare. That means that some people will be unable to get any because of the greedy actions of hoarders who have no thought for anyone else and their needs. It is all in line with our President, who hasn't a clue as to how to handle this health crisis. He and his team were caught with their pants down regarding setting up testing protocols for the Coronavirus. He spouts off about "everyone" being tested who needs it, yet we are not ready to test "everyone" who needs it.
This disgusting display of hoarding is in line with the President's ignorance and the prevailing attitude that "it is all about me."

I went to Kroger yesterday to buy some stuff, but they were out of several things: bananas, oatmeal, bread, meat, toilet paper of course.
What struck me though is that on the drive there (and that was close to midnight), I noticed that people were not "as nice" as they usually are on the road in Nashville. People here usually wait quite a bit at stop signs to make sure it is clear who is to go first. They take their time starting/stopping at traffic lights. Last night, though, people were very aggressive with their driving, which is giving me the sense there is a bit of an "anarchy" mentality developing. I'm much more curious to see how humanity / society will behave / respond in the face of this (in terms of it being a global stressful crisis, without focusing on the fact that it is a viral illness that can be fatal) rather than on the health outcomes themselves.
