This was here the whole time?

Hello everyone,

Just a few days ago I came across this site, there's a lot of great info on this foro! Don't know how I missed it. A big thank you to all contributors, this is quite a reminder to me of how the internet has connected the world.. I have a lot of homework to do :)

Little about me.. I'm in my late 20s, been under a rock and have played guitar for little over a decade, been practicing the flamenco ways for about 5 years now, it's been a very fun ride! Big Sabicas lover, seems standard . it's fascinating learning the variables surrounding the flamenco world, techniques, watching the masters, the cante, culture and all. It's really grown on me. Can't say I'm a purist, but this definitely holds a special place in my heart. Cheers to all from Arizona!

Welcome to the Foro, Coyote. Although I spent a career in the US Foreign Service assigned to Embassies abroad as well as Washington, DC, I grew up in Arizona and still consider it my second home. My wife and I have lived in the Washington, DC area for several years since retirement, but we just spent five weeks in Tempe-Scottsdale, Arizona. Plan to anchor ourselves there when we find the right house.

I am a big fan of Sabicas as well. In flamenco (and other genres), I go for the old classics.

Where do you live in Arizona?

Cheers,

Bill

Who is this "Sabicas" you're all talking about?
Wasn't he a student of the great Ottmar Liebert?

Barkell - I grew up in lettuce town Yuma but I'm living in Tucson as the moment, just moved here recently actually. Maybe not as outgoing as Phoenix but it's a fairly short drive from here. Have some good friends there also.

Piwin - I think he's some tortilla flipper or something. Manos calientes!

Kitarist- I've been wanting to learn some more Sabi classics (like the beautiful zapeton in re), but I've been digging into some basic classical repertoire recently *dodges rocks thrown*. I feel I skipped a number of basics! Technique wise I've been working on my abanicos.. took me forever to find that terminology. 5 years late into these specific strums but better than never!
