Hola... and Hello

Hi my name is santino, and I’m addicted to Flamenco…. I’m taking Flamenco guitar classes. I’ve been taking classes for around 9 mon’s now. I don’t have any previous guitar training. When I think about it, I don’t have any desire to learn any other style. I have always wanted to learn to play. It has been very cool to go from knowing nothing, no chords… to being able to play anything that has the flamenco sound!

I work as a design engineer for a Civil firm. Before I started learning guitar, my hobby was art.

I’m looking to learn, and chat we other Flamenco fans, and avoid pointless arguments.

Nice to meet everyone.

Hi Peter

Thanks for the reply.
That’s good that people are out enjoying their summer.

Is there a large flamenco community in the Netherlands?

I’m in Nashville, lots of country music not so much flamenco.

Ah Nashville, to an european from a small country it sounds like a name from the movies.
I like country music a lot. Especially the old styles, from the 50ties and before..

There isa rather big flamenco comunity in Holland compared to the size of the country.
Paco Peña started 30 years ago a study flamenco guitar on the Rotterdam conservatory, so every year there are new graduated students. That makes it hard to be a payed artist, but the very good ones with also an etrepreneurs mind are (not allways) able to manage.

It sounds like that to me too.... we had never been to this part of the U.S. before moving here. it's been a change from the W. coast. lots of sweet tea and boots.

have you ever heard of hot chicken?

Does Holland flamenco have it's own unique sound or is it traditional?

Haha, yes I have heared of Nashville hot chicken....never ate it though

The flamenco in Holland has not an own style, Paco Peña is a very traditional guitarist. A lot of the students go after their education to Andalucia to get the “real” aire.
A good example is for instance Tino van der Swam.
