John Mcglaughlin interview

https://youtu.be/1VlldJhIFSE

Was listening to this interview this morning. I didn't know he was into flamenco guitar as a kid, although that was a different epoch

I had the opportunity to see John Mcglaughlin during one of his U.S. tours in the early 1990s. He was touring with a percussionist and bass player. Small venue, sold out, mostly guitar enthusiasts eager to see the legendary guitarist. He came out, positioned himself in a chair facing the wall, away from the onlooking crowd, and stayed in that position for the entire show. Lots of disappointed concertgoers. One of the stranger concert experiences of my life. Onward and forward....

Saw him with Shakti and before that the MO. He burned the place down on both occasions.

Yeah Ricardo, it was a weird situation. If memory serves right, John McLaughlin played/toured with Miles Davis for a while. Miles was know to something similar...he'd stroll off the stage and play out of the crowd's view at times. Show folk.....smile.
