Malaga - next month

So - got a week and a half mid May and have decided to head back to Spain. Thinking of Malaga as an option instead of my usual Jerez/Seville haunts.

Been there years ago as a tourist but before my interest in flamenco.

Thinking of doing some lessons at Guitarra Flamenca Malaga School (https://www.facebook.com/guitarraflamencamalaga/) Anyone been there?

Or alternative teachers?

Good Penas or artists worth seeing?

Longshot - anyone into fishing? Quite fancy some sea fishing or possibly sailing. Only done freshwater for both.

I am also interested to know what's what in Malaga. If you haven't been to cadiz coastal area it's pretty great and much better than costa tropical for example east from malaga, so sanlucar-algeciras zone has lots to offer.

The Peña Juan Breva (https://www.guiaflama.com/lugares/museo-de-arte-flamenco-pena-juan-breva/) is a good place to make contacts.

As for fishing you should look for boats in the harbour which are for hire. Normally they would be hired by several people to share costs and some captains would be much better than others at finding fish. Ask in Breva.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.

P.S. If you like tapas, there is a callejon just before Calle Larios where they serve plates of gambas plancha, very good and cheap. I never miss it.

Continuing por Calle Larios, veering to the right, you will arrive at Calle Andalucía, which has a couple of good places; the famous Bodegas el Pimpi and on the previous corner a fine bar whose name I do not remember.

Thanks for suggestions - ended up going with my gut and booking to go back to Jerez.... sitting on a roof terrace drinking fino and moodling bulerias on guitar appeals too much.

Next time perhaps....

Make sure you visit the nearby towns, such as Puerto de Santa Maria, Sanlucar, Cadiz and maybe Chipiona and Rota. Buses and trains go relatively often. Maybe on the way back you will have time to visit the center of malaga on a bus or taxi, there isn't much to see besides the center of Malaga some say.

Never heard of the Playa de Pedregalejo, with its sardines on a spit grilled by an open fire?

I don´t think I shall be posting any more guides if they are not appreciated.

Deffo appreiated here - I will be back in Malaga - just not this time! Call of Jerez was too strong (plus I -really, really- want to learn bulerias in c# from Manuel Valencia)

Had fish on the beach last time I was there - chiringuitas or something like that they're called? Pricey but well worth it.
