starting this year, ivory trade has been prohibited in China. though I doubt that it will make a huge impact, the black market is most probably pretty strong.
anyway, happy new year all.

That's at least a step in the right direction. Do you know if this new move also covers rhino horn?

A Happy New Year to everyone, hopefully!

How would chances be for to try and smuggle politically banned items in China? Such places have rather dense monitoring and frisking options.
Should trade of ivory continue then only for administration not really caring about wildlife.

In fact, nomenclature there is supposed to be among first in line with consumption of wildlife parts. And be it just for matters of prestige, as the ambience offering such items being luxurious.

I doubt that it does. It's probably considering elephant ivory only, regarding the huge decrease in African elephants from several millions to only about half a million. I just asked google about rhino horn and I didn't find too much actually.

@Ruphus: I doubt that there is any problem in smuggling stuff in China to be honest.

Yep, looks like this is elephants only. The rhino horn trade was made illegal long ago to little effect

It actually got legalized again not long ago in Africa. Leave the poor Rhinos alone v__v

and there we have it: illegal in china, black market full of it. no problem at all
