I'll miss this place..

From the time most of us came over from Flamenco-Teacher, I have been regularly checking this forum. Many many colorful characters have come through. I now miss the old guys and enjoy the new. I have seen several come and go.
I have never posted much and have only entered(horribly one beginners challenge. I somehow feel a(unrealistic I know)connection to the members though as I read the back and forth posts.
Thank you Simon for starting and maintaining this place so well. Thanks everyone else who has added so much. It will be strange not checking here regularly as one of my favorites. Good bye everyone, I wish you all the bes!

Oh man... More bad news. . I will definitely miss this forum. It has been quite a journey for me both here and in real life since I became a member. Interacting with other fellow members has been an extremely positive experience. I have become a better musician as a result and that's something I'm very grateful for. Definitely will miss the Falseta Swap shop. Simon, I wish you the best of luck. Take care everyone followed by a big OLE!

Thanks Simon for all your work.

I never contributed very much, was very much out of my depth, but I enjoyed reading and learned a lot.
hopefully some of the info will make its way to the FB group, and I can continue watching
peoples adventures with cante accompaniment.

not sure what i'll do now while waiting for my code to compile!

Extremely sad news. I have greatly enjoyed the Foro, reading it every day since I first joined – the first thing I do each morning.

Enormous thanks to Simon for such a very generous commitment of time and money to the cause. A remarkable achievement.

A profound thank you, also, to all the many contributors of wit and wisdom.

I have strenuously avoided Facebook up to now. Maybe I’ll have to reconsider. . .

It's going to be weird not coming here after 10+ years, but I totally understand.

I'm thinking of writing a script to scrape the post from the luthier section, although I'm not sure I have time and I don't want to bombard the site with http request. Hopefully Simon will be able to save this treasure of data

I have a db back up if you want a copy (in SQL Server 2008 Express format)? I could do with some help to parse, extract and publish some of the more valuable threads - perhaps in in PDF. Let me know.

What about a forum hosting place - that way the issues around security are dealt with by the company hosting the forum. I looked around and found this: https://www.proboards.com/free-forum-features

It seems to offer about the same types of features and look as foro flamenco, and is even free if external ads are OK with admin. There are other options too, for a small fee (which can be taken out from a pool of money we collect).

Simon, I have the greatest respect for all the effort you've invested, and can understand that at some point enough is enough. Thank you very, very much for the past years!

So sorry to hear this. The level of the discussion here has been, for the most part, amazing, and I’ve learnt so much.

I was thinking a similar thing Konstantin and that looks like a pretty good package. The Foro did temporarily live on one of these off the shelf forum sites before it was set up here.

Personally I don't like Facebook and FB groups are hopeless when you want to search for stuff.

One thing is to post things live in a public forum. Another is to have them published somewhere else. Iḿ not to sure what I feel about that and I may not be the only one.
Sorry to be negative in an moment like this one, but its very easy to get caught by the "flow" and not think things over.

And sometimes its a very good idea to let go and give space to what will be new very soon. Thereś a lot of valuable information in the lutherie section but there is also a LOT of BS and personal crap.

I hope to be able to take you up on that some day Morante and meet you in person.
Same here, anyone passing by Madrid should feel free to get in touch with me. (PM for email address if anyone wants it). I'll set up a Facebook account to keep in touch with those on the foro group.

@kitarist
I wish I had expertise in IT to help. But I'd be way out of my depth with that sort of thing. If ever there is a plan some day for something, I'd be more than happy to contribute, in whichever way a lay person can.
