Hi from Netherlands

Hi Folks,

Just a short introduction. It started 25 years ago after 2 years of keyboard lessons. I was 16 then (so you can do the math) and wanted to rock!!! So I threw out my Yamaha keyboard and bought an electric guitar and an amp and formed an "attic-rock-band" with my friends. All we lacked in skill and education, we covered by enthusiasm and distortion.

A friend, who later also got me into the school band, showed me power chords and blues scales. We found out that amplifying the bass sound does not make a base guitar and that pots and pans, are not drum set. So gradually, the "band" became more sophisticated with real instruments and we moved into a repetition center.

As with most "bands" of that age, it was more a morphing collection of would be musicians with players and instruments coming and going.

My father bought in spur of bedazzlement, a classical guitar and actually took some lessons. An event of which I couldn't care less.. The Flamenco concert where he dragged us to in the Camargue, was 45 minutes of waste of my life.

However, since that time, some flamenco and gypsy music had softly landed into my music collection.

The years fade as one has to study, work, get kids and family. And all these years my guitar has been my companion. An acoustics guitar that I traded for 5 packs of cigarettes and a 3/4 Antonio Sanches kids guitar sometimes spending months in the basement and then at times standing in the house for months again.

During a spring basement cleaning, I decided it was time to get rid off all the stuff cause the ever lack of time. The e-guitar and amp were sold online, the acoustic was given to a friend. Only the Antonio Sanchez came up again to with its soft sounds, started the music fire again.

And when I stumbled in the book shop on Juan Martin's flamenco lesson book, I new the book was there for a reason and it was time for me to finally pick up flamenco.

The Antonio Sanches was smashed by the kids. I had it repaired (which in hindsight was a waste of money) but to cover the repair period, I bought a Burguet Negra.

Now, I enjoy daily between 30 and 60 minutes of practicing and playing. Done my first Soleares and Seguiriyas and am now working on an Alegrias.
