Colours

While travelling in Morocco recently I took some photos of various designs and made a collage of some of the more interesting ones as a source of inspiration for those interested.

Have more if you like..

Sean Scully the Irish painter is very influenced by Morocco and Matisse. There is a BBC show of him traveling in Morocco talking about the color and light.

Not sure if this was produced by BBC or not, but worth watching if you want to talk about color as it pertains to influencing guitar making.

Also good- 'Bloody' Canvas Scully talks about Boxing as art and art as boxing. Quite a nice documentary.

Hello Joan,

Those are some beautiful inspirations for rosettes there. I would love to see one on a guitar. Thanks for the posting.

Yes, I met him back in 1980s when I had just left art college at his one-man show in whitechapel not my thing but I do like Matisse in morocco.

Here're some motives from Andalucia:

I have always thought Arabic calligraphy to be a beautiful art form that would make an interesting design for a rosette. Just don't use the "Shahada" (the Islamic profession of faith "There is no God but God....") or mobs will be setting Embassies on fire worldwide.

It was the Berber carpets that I found really beautiful, each all hand woven and different.
