Paco Pena Flamenco Toques DVD

Hello! I just received the DVD version of Paco Pena's Flamenco Toques book. I have been working through the book for a year and needed a bit of a visual aid for some help. The DVD features Ehsan Faramarzipour performing all ten pieces from the book. For a visual learner, this DVD is amazing. The videos feature a performance of every palo at normal and slow speed with two close ups of his right and left hand. You also have the option of hearing the pieces with a metronome. Ehsan also includes a variation of the tientos and tarantas in which he performs them as a tangos and tarantos. I would highly recommend this DVD for anyone struggling with that book, however, it is not "instructional" in that he does not explain technique or compas, so i would recommend some prior knowledge of flamenco prior to purchasing.

Thanks Gabewolf

I had no idea this DVD existed. Sounds really useful - and a lot better than my sketchy uploads

Where did you get your copy?

It was! It's extremely helpful, I was having some trouble with the farruca and this DVD is helping me hammer out some of the kinks in my execution.

There's an unwarranted bad review on Amazon, the guy is a moron. I feel like posting a positive one just to counter his even though I've never seen it.........

haha, I saw that. I get his point, this DVD is not for anyone who has never attempted a rasgueado before, but I think that's his fault for not starting with some super beginner technique instructional material.

It says clearly in the book itself, for intermediate players. If someone doesn't have a solid base of technique and compas they have no business opening that book up.

It definitely is for intermediate players. I have the video for reference, but would never be able to get through the pieces without my instructor. Personally, I have been spending about 2 months on each piece and it has turned into a 1.5 year long project. I am thoroughly enjoying the journey and looking forward to one day performing each piece.

Two months a piece is great man! You've put me to shame as it's been taking me about twice that amount of time per piece, although I am learning bulerias, tangos, cante accompaniment as well as some baile, with a full time job and full time school on top of that. I am also enjoying the journey of learning this music. Do you have a favorite piece from Flamenco Toques?
