Silent guitars for practice

Haven't been on here for a while, as am now a single parent to two young children.
To that and could anyone reccomend a silent guitar for practicing?
Thanks

Silent guitar to avoid disturbing the kids or to avoid disturbing neighbours?

I have always played guitar to my kids without silencing any time of the day, including bed time. They are now pretty musical (thanks to some great music teachers + our support).

I wouldn't recommend a silent guitar as a way to play around kids.

If it's a neighbour issue, try the search function here, it's been discussed several times.

You can always stick a sponge or a sock under the strings at the bridge.

Avoid disturbing the kids. The only time I get to myself is late at night and one of the kids doesn't sleep well due to problems going on with the ex.

You could try playing very gentle. Tremolos and arpegios are good at bed time. Avoid the heavy techniques for a while.

Good luck with the split.

There doesn't seem to be much choice in there. The Yamaha silent guitar appears to be out of production and most places only seem to have the steel string version of the Aria Sinsonido. Have found a couple of second hand ones, but again steel strung.

Tried that, changed the tone and I didn't like it.

I have a nylon one, upon which I added a lower golpeador extension. I'll be selling it and posting the ad here before Ebay.

I'll dig it out and check it over. Was very handy for practising at work but now I am based at home, I don't need it.

I have the Yamaha one with a custom tap plate. I love it, Its definitely quieter than a sponge or sock under a normal one. More like an unamplified electric guitar.

Thanks to Escribano I now have an Aria Sinsonido. Fitted a new set of strings this afternoon (Luthier set 40, for no other reason than I had some spare) and it's sounding rather good.

Glad you are enjoying it. It isn't bad at all for quiet practice and portability.
