Water Leak on Wood

I recently purchased a "brand new" flamenco guitar that is set to arrive today. I use quotation marks because the seller said it was brand new packaged from the factory, but he sent me a picture with a humidifier water stain near the label. I reached out to him and he mentioned that the stain did not get into the seams of the three piece back and it wasn't done over time.

The guitar I bought is a Cordoba Solista Flamenca (sp/cp) and I got it at a good price ($1,100 compared to the $1,700 at the store).

From a luthier's perspective, should I keep the guitar or return it if I see that is does not have any bulges or separation of the seams on the back of the guitar

You asked for a luthier's perspective, and although I am not a luthier, I would question if it was "brand new packaged from the factory" why it had a humidifier water stain? I'm sure it did not come packaged from the factory with a humidifier filled with water. It may be a good deal, but I would follow up with the seller on just how "brand new" it really is.

Without looking at it is really hard to say if it's good or bad news. Does the water mark go all of the way through the back? It might just be a little surface stain caused by very little water. In which case no harm done and should clean up with a little abrasion.

I would suspect though if no harm has been done so far then it wouldn't make any difference down the line. A lot of luthiers will rub water on the entire guitar before finishing in a process called raising the grain which doesn't effect the guitar.

If it was the only one at $1100 then you know why it was cheaper.
