General lube maintenance on tuners

What is the preferred type of lubrication to apply to the tuner screws, a lite oil, like sewing machine oil, or a type more like maybe Vaseline, or candle wax? Any thoughts would be appreciated

I've never done anything other than a drop of 3-in-1 all purpose in the gears every year or so. Vaseline is sticky - it would attract dust and grime, and hold onto any metal bits and such. Not what you want to put on gears.

Do a search of the Foro - this has been discussed.

Thanks that was sort of my thoughts also about using a Vaseline type lube. I have a very lite type sewing machine oil, from Singer, just a drop or two might just be the ticket.

Very good idea, don't want to have any excess oil running to anything, especially into the head.

A drop of sewing machine oil does the trick just fine.

Thanks everyone, now I am at ease with this. Read my post on G string tuner problems,
you'll get a kick out that for sure.
