Anders Elliasson Blanca £1395

Reluctant sale - A lovely blanca made for me by Anders in 2006. Traditional build - cypress back and sides, spruce top. Muy flamenco sound, very responsive, punchy midrange with a gutsy tone.

Apart from a string ding behind the bridge by the 1st string, and a minor blemish on the lower bout, both of which I have tried to photograph clearly, the guitar is in great condition with light handling wear. No cracks or repairs.

Used for dance classes for a while, but not gigged and mostly played at home.

Perfect action/ set-up, its a hair under 3mm at 12th fret/6th string.

Spec.

Cypress back and sides, spruce top
Ebony fingerboard
string spacing at bridge=56mm/60mm (the latter is a slotted saddle* I had made to widen the spacing, both will be included)
Scale length =650mm
spacing at nut=43mm
Fretboard width at nut=51mm
12 hole tie block
French Polish finish
Gotoh tuners (see pic at bottom, I upgraded these recently, but the original white ones in the pics can be swapped back if you prefer).

Comes in original hard case (Canadian I think) that Anders provided, though I could ship in a Hiscox case if preferred.

Anders is of course a long standing contributor to this forum, but for anyone new to the forum who is unaware of his work, check out Anders website for more info on his guitars and approach to building:
http://www.eliassonguitars.com/flamenco.html

£1395 + shipping.

PM me for any more info. Can be seen/tried in Devon, UK.

So in the end you decided to sell it. I fully understand and I think its good idea to write why you want to sell it.
I really like the color that it has on your pictures and it looks like its very well preserved.
Oh, my good, the good old zigzag rosette. Lots of cutting. I havent made one for many years. I like them and maybe I should make one....

Are you sure its 56mm at the bridge. Remember that it should be meassured from the center of both E - strings.

Yes, good idea - basically over the years I have come to realise that I prefer a wider string spacing, and having examined my options modifying this guitar did not seem a realistic proposition.

The modification method I suggested you works incredibly well, I have done it twice. But the jig is no longer for sale, altough you can order one from local engineer.

At the nut...or at the bridge....or in general?

Both.

I already raised the issue in lutherie section here, which also links to another thread on the same topic:
http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=240873&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1

Really I think any discussion on these issues should be in that thread, not sure why Tele felt the need to repeat his post here. Classified ad postings have to be approved to avoid spammers etc but it would be a pain for mods if we started having long discussions here.

Just wanted to hear why did you not decide to do the modification if it's the only excuse for selling

Thanks for hijacking my ad and forcing me to respond to this off topic discussion.

To answer your question, I sought opinion from Anders, from my guitar techs locally who do all my work, and read the comments made by other professional luthiers in the thread where this discussion belongs.

I do not have woodwork skills, and would not dream of trying to modify the bridge on a hand made concert guitar myself, however easy someone (who is not a guitar tech) says it is, I am simply not prepared to take what would be a ridiculous risk.

My guitar tech would not take on the job, so end of story. I came to an informed conclusion. Someone on a forum who claims he managed to do this himself on his guitar does not change my mind.

Dont worry Blondie.

Its actually helpfull that people reply to your post when you´re trying to sell a guitar. It makes it stay on top of the list and so it atracts more viewers.
And besides, I like the way the color has aged on the soundboard.
On the top photo, which I took in 2006, its a lot paler.

Is it a 1A or 2A?

It's not a 2, as I recall when I bought this Anders rarely built a model 2 so he didn't use those terms on his labels. This, like many others of the time bought by members of the early Foro, was built to order using the top choice woods. If Anders had wood that wasn't quite up to the same grade he would occasionally build a '2'.

That's my understanding, I could not comment on what differences there are between this and his current model 1A.

Blondie#2 is right.
Its a 1A, and back then I rarely made 2A guitars. Something that is going to be like that again.
