Trying out a cutaway cordoba guitar

I was at my local Sam Ash music store yesterday and was trying out some guitars. I was playing on this cordoba cutaway.. I was very impressed with the sound it had. Only $699.00 I believe.. It was definitely made to rip... It actually sounded better than all of the guitars i have. How is that possible? I'm tempted to buy it.

Maybe sounds nicer in a room full of acoustic guitars resonating?

Lenny, you should accept that there are nice Cordoba's. Yours just doesn't sound that good because it's you playing it.

Joking.. I understand that your Kremona is much better.

Juan, there are some freak guitars here and there, but no way it sounded nicer than what you've got. When I get a new guitar, first thing I do is play around with string brands and tensions as well as string action. Have you done the same for yours?

My Córdoba sounds like a solid $60 guitar, so for being free I'm lookin pretty good! Lol

They have been making em with very thin tops that are very springy and percussive. Not sure this is such a good thing, but makes them seem impressive at first. I have seen em crack pretty easily. Also, time will tell if that broken in quality as a selling point for these instruments, will allow them to retain that quality for years. I for one can't deal with those trebles, I need a more supported mid range tone.

@Lenador: Hmmm, it's possible but I've tried other cordobas in houses and I was impressed.

@Grisha: I do have a Darren Hippner that sounds actually quite good and muy flamenca. I do experiment with different string brands(for trebles and basses), tension,etc.. I find it does help to a certain extent. I might have to change a set for one of my other guitars very soon...

@Ricardo: The trebles in this cordoba I played actually had a sweet sound. Not overly percussive but just right; at least for me. I think that caught my attention but i might go and check it out again.

If you like it then buy it. Why not buy used then since the resale value on those guitars is very low.
