well interesting , perhaps ... difficult to prove ..actually impossible to prove and no mention of the notch or small cross bar that would make it a true f ,
urban myth ?
But yes interesting enough ..

Now i have to peel all kinds of other fruit and veg to see if I can improve the sound of stuff ....so far the carrot didnt work out so good ...

Actually the guitar hole was discovered earlier, being the cross section of the perfect sphere!. You don't have to peel an orange to get the perfectly shaped sound hole, no matter how you slice through your orange, it's perfect
Or maybe it wasn't oranges but pomegranates that inspired early vihuela-builders
