This gives "Conde porn" a whole new meaning. Now I don't think it was a good choice of title for this thread.

OTOH, this has to be the first conde thread that went so long without anyone mentioning the guitars.

In spain they really respect tradition and move the art from generation to generation, that's respectable. So after we're all gone they will still be making conde hermanos guitars...
I guess this is a good time to invest into a vintage conde guitar?

Felipe's guitars are better than Mariano's.

I never played a Conde, can someone who ownes one please explain why a good Conde seem to be preferred by most professionals.

It's for the same reason why most pro guitarists who use electrics play with fender or gibson. They're also great guitars(mainly the ones made before 1988).

We're waaaay past that "Fender & Gibson only" thing... even considering that those two own a big chunk of brands out there.

Unless you only watch old videos on youtube, some of the current genres that propel the electric guitar are metal/fusion/shred... and you won't be seeing that many Gibsons or Fenders.

I play currently only electric and that's not true. But it's true that there are new crappy guitarists that are considered greats. And gear is more important than playing to most guitarists.
Even in Finland, which is all about metal, what you call propelling, those things don't do it. What's on youtube could mean that these technique addicted players are just more eager to post vids.

If you want to elaborate on the conde popularity please do, but in my opinion it's all about brand and others using it, yet as mentioned they are good guitars especially the old ones.

Ok, go check some guitar magazines or even general rock and pop publications. What you're saying would/could be truth if we still lived in the 70's.

Now you're just trying to be plain foroflamenco snobish if you're implying that "real artists" only use Fender or Gibson... just get over it and take a look at what is.

Music Man, Ibanez, Suhr, Charvel/Jackson, Strandberg, Kiesel/Carvin, PRS... just a few examples of crap brands played by wannabe guitarists.

What next? Vicente can barely play bulerias and his guitars are for ****s? Ah that's right, we've been through that already..

I will not argue with you, it's pointless.
Most electric guitarists still use gibson and fender, that's true but it was not my point, I don't know why you brought up what people use the most on youtube today. And conde is similar, a brand used by most guitarists that is associated with great players, just like gibson and fender. That's all I wanted to say, if you disagree it's fine by me, everyone has their opinions.

Lets not derail this thread.

I have to agree with Sr.Martin on this one.

While on the flamenco scene as far as i can see Condes seems to be the guitar preferred by most pro flamencos correct me if i am wrong. So the design seems to(must)have properties that makes it the first choice for many top players.

And i would guess there are more people playing the electric guitar so it's hard to compare the two.

I am from Finland, which is a country where metal and shredding is heavily appreciated, I visit the sales and discussion board for finnish musicians almost daily and fenders, gibsons and ibanez guitars are the most often advertised and discussed guitars. This is my experience as electric guitarist during the last 14 years. But my point that conde hermanos has the respect as a major BRAND used by most professionals is all that I wanted to say to the question why pro's use them. What kids use on youtube, I simply don't care nor is it relevant to my point. Here's the sales ads:

If you want to see the numbers then google top selling guitar brands, altough that might bring us epiphone since they're very popular with beginners.

There are other factors to condes popularity, such as them sounding good mic'd and more but this has been discussed alot on this forum and I'm no expert on those factors.

It sounds like you're saying that "Those who don't use Fender & Gibson can't be considered pro's and are at most some wannabes who have a following".

Haven't tried her's yet...Felipe Jr. Guitar was superior, tried one in Sanlucar 2014 and gave him some advice about the set up. Rumors still imply it's iffy if these guitars are made in some other factor or not, and this family is just putting on a show. Regardless, they are enthusiatsic aficionados and very nice people, even if over priced. If I had the $ I wouldn't mind having a Felipe Jr in my collection. Hope the rumors go away, or if it is true they are outsourced it just comes out in the open. End of day, the guitars are good and that's why they are popular.

I said already I won't argue with you, it's pointless as I've already been reading this forum for some time.

Smaller guitar makers such as suhr are much better than fender or gibson especially today when they make so many guitars. I don't consider the two brands better than others, on the contrary I like best small builders guitars such as Lottonen from Finland.
But in my experience(lets leave this here) most pros still use fender or gibson guitars, especially the vintage ones which have reached hellish prices.
It could be just that I don't care about artists such as Gutherie Govan and other shredders and I don't notice what guitars they use. That's all about this matter and why Condes seem to be popular in my opinion.

I go to alot of gigs, play with pros or semi-pros, talk with them about gear and watch some youtube(but not what you call music that propels electric guitar)
But if we concentrate on metal/shredding/fusion, then of course I am wrong and you are right. I think it's all about what kind of music you listen to but to me it seems that the music mentioned above is played by minority(even in metal fanatic finland) altough I could be wrong. What I didn't like though was that you assumed for some reason that I think that players who don't use F or G guitars are not pro or the guitars aren't good, what's up with that...
I think the third time will be enough, I have no reason or interest to argue about this any more. Lets say you are right then.
