the ritmo flamenco vol 9 is just patterns, just one speed for each palo though, but with more variation than the solo compás tracks, and with some jaleo (and singing on the beginning of the fandango track).

also there is the "Escuela de Flamenca presentada por Cristina Hoyos" series.
A lot of them are identical format to the manuel salado solo compás series, I don't which came first, and which copied which.
The manuel salado series has more famous dancers (eva yerbabuena, Juana Amaya etc.), but the Cristina Hoyos has some discs of different styles of cante (off topic for compás tracks but interesting/useful for cante)

i'm playing it thru 8" monitors with the interface turned all the way up and i can barely hear it over arpeggios and not at all during rageos

everything else i've ever played (spotify, youtube, mp3s, netflix etc.) the interface can never be more than half way up or it's blasting (85dB spl is as loud as i'm willing to go)

i also have a somewhat portable Heos 3 speaker i can take on the go with my iphone and Dr. Compas is not anywhere near loud enough with that either (iphone and speaker turned all the way up)

Dr. Compas is seriously soft

Something's wrong then..... Did you turn the master volume up in settings?? My girlfriend uses it to practice footwork so I know it's capable of being really loud.....

master up helps, but only a little bit

it's still not matching levels from many other sources, not even close

i just did a little audio test, Spotify vs. Dr. Compas (master full up) playing thru my interface, same speaker volume and distance recorded onto a portable recorder

i measured the mp3s using software and Spotify was 17dB louder than Dr. Compas

6dB is often considered twice as loud so we're talking almost 4x as loud

Just put a limiter on it before you export and raise the level through the roof. Problem solved.

so yeah, that means, recording from iphone, importing it to a DAW, adding the limiting then exporting to the iphone... Pain!

plus i lose flexible tempos

Oh, Spotify... you have to stream it to record it and sometimes there are little artifacts that end up on the recording, right? Now I remember why I forgot about Spotify

Try visiting the Mac store. They have classes for people that can't figure out
their phone.
The bad news is, if you can't figure out how to make audio louder, then you're gonna
have a HELLUVA time with flamenco guitar.
You should think about retiring early. LOL

Dr Compas works fine, yes the sample levels are a little low but its easily rectified. I use at in my home studio with no problem (I turn up the big knob marked 'volume' on my amp) and also at gigs through my PA. I don't get any s/n issues either.

As mentioned above, this was designed for use by guitarists and dancers to use in the practice studio so if it was not fit for purpose it wouldn't be so popular.

Not 2b a jerk, but to quote someone else...if you can hear the click over your guitar, then you are NOT ON IT! I use doc compas with Iphone and volume normal with the shtty little iphone speaker. Your rasgueados, if done loud, SHOULD cover the sound. Learn how to control your playing by practicing MORE OFTEN, with just a simple quiet click....then your volume troubles will be a non issue.

thanks for cutting off my quoted sentence and missing the entire point...WITH A SIMPLE QUIET CLICK is what YOU need amgio. Dancers tend to use ANNOYINGLY LOUD palmas...and yes often are not accurate timing wise either because this crutch.

no, Ricardo, i didn't miss your point at all. whatever your recommendations on being a better flamenco guitarist, I still need to hear it with my guitar and it's way way way (did i say way?) too soft

i found this post, presumably from the developer (Maissam) that there are indeed volume problems with Dr Compas:

They are trying to sell a product. My advice of using a simple click even goes counter to their desired marketing strategy. Dr. Compas is a fun and useful tool for working on your music, but this assumes a basic understanding and master of time keeping FIRST. I hear students chasing the accents with no groove trying to force their playing to the looped percussion, I have to tell them to turn off the potty training metronomes and just work with the basic click for a while.

Luckly Dr, compas has the BASIC CLICK as an option, and again I say, don't use it very loud, make it disappear totally and you are on it jack.

I think without a doubt that this is the best advise for a beginner/intermediate player. If you can´t get a groove or soniquete with a simple metronome click, you´re not ready to play with compas yet. If it starts to sound good with a click it will sound great with compas! A metronome makes it very easy to hear if you are spot on! Flamenco is about soniquete and you have to produce this with your playing.
A metronome should be you best friend and in the beginning you should never play without it!! Listen for the groove in the click and your playing will improve a bigtime!!
