RE: Would you take guitar steroids?? (in reply to Leñador)

Whilst brain function shows to be the more complex the more investigated, trivial aspects are rising in the same time. (I was sent a recent docu about the unconsciousness from abroad just on Monday. We think to be conscious to quite a degree, don´t we. Boy, how things couldn´t be farther from that! Not only that decisions have been taken unconsciously before you fancy to be making it consciously, but even when we are computing consciously the unconsciousness is conducting way more in the same time, engaging about 200 000 times more brain cells than your conscious thoughts. Fancying intellectual / rational independence and awareness, in truth we seem little ahead from vegetating plants. - And this seems the most valuable info to me for our overestimating and fanatic species on its urgent way back to humility.) And among the trivial / mechanical facts, so it seems that cognitive achievement can be transferred physically from brain to brain. The technique being yet in infantile state, but something like dexterity for musicians could well come in pills some time ahead. - Without shrinking testicles, I hope. Think of like green ones for piano players, yellow ones for violinists and maybe red ones for guitarists. Only for good ol´tuba players ... it might be taking some other stuff, hehe. Ruphus

quote:
If you could take steroids and get the same performance enhancements that athletes get but on your guitar would you do it??? Aside from the negative side effects steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs can have, I am against the use of such artificial stimulants and "enhancements" because they do not represent the true capabilities of the individual taking them, whether it be in the field of athletics or (in your theoretical case) music. In athletics, as it would in music, it represents an egregious form of cheating. In cycling, it is the reason Lance Armstrong (very properly, in my opinion) was stripped of all of his Tour de France titles. In baseball, it is the reason Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, and others will forever have a question mark beside their records. They cheated to gain an unfair (and unwarranted) advantage against their peers. It would be the same in music (assuming it would actually enhance one's performance). Bill
