New Microphone Test (Guitar but not ...

Hello, I've got some new short guitar (classical, not flamenco) recordings through different microphone arrays:

https://soundcloud.com/rojarosguitar/sets/newest-microphone-guitar-test

The two first recordings fall outside the test proper, because they are recorded with a different guitar in a different room and using a slightly different technique, but I include them because they are as viable as any other.

Feedback very welcome.

The recordings were done one after the other, so there are some variations in performance and also some mistakes here an there. The channels have been normalized and cut to length, faded in and out and than mixed down. The mixed down tracks then were all normalized again so that the volume is as comparable as possible. No other processing whatsoever is involved...

New Guitar Test

If you're posting a microphone test, don't you think it would be pretty important
to say which microphone you're testing?
Otherwise, i don't see the point.

To record?

I think nothing beats a regular microphone placed away from the guitar. I wouldn't waste my time with clip-ons unless it's absolutely necessary.

Of course I will publish all the data in due time, but I didn't want anybody react to brands and names in either way, positive or negative.
I thought it's much more interesting to have reponses based only on your ears and not on your knowledge of what is supposed to be the'right' thing...

The "problem" is that a clip-on will always have to clip-on near the soundhole and that's not a very natural guitar sound. This is just my opinion, if you like it, go ahead.

There is one made by Danish Pro Audio. It is a fantastic microphone. Not so cheap, though...

I should mention what has been used: I used two Samar VL37 ribbon mics either as Faulkner phased array or as such with a third central LDCs of different brands. The Ribbon mics went through AEA TRP either without or with FetHead impedance matching amps.
