de Falla - Danse Espagnole

A friend of mine who plays & teaches violin has proposed we work on de Falla's Spanish Dance together. This is track 6 on Paco's de Falla disc. Here is a violin / piano version

I mainly need to learn the second guitar part (but having a crack at the first guitar part could be fun too). Anyone know of any good resources for this piece, video tutorials, slow versions, scores, tabs, anecdotal side notes (e.g. differences between classical and Paco interpretations) etc?

Be careful asking about this. You might start another p-iami versus p-ami thread.

Good luck!

I think I do actually... I'll look. Also PM xirdneH_imiJ.

Might help you to identify this piece as La Vida Breve because I always think of it as having that title...

This is one on my favorite pieces! I play it with my brother, we used the Emilio Pujol transcription for two guitars. My favourite version is by Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya

I've transcribed this which is available through tabsflamenco.com
Unfortunately I don't have a multiple guitar transcription, but there must be one floating around the net somewhere...

Such as this cite that started the last one: "Make it more flamenco, and use p-iami tremolo."

It started a a good conversation, but one poster became rather upset in his responses (not you, Ramzi, although you introduced the topic). I have to say, though, that it would be a pretty dull Foro if we all agreed on everything!

Thanks everyone for their posts & PMs.

@minorthang - I saw this address on the above video too, https://www.wuala.com/edsonlopes, but doesn't work on my machine - perhaps I have to first pay to join the cloud?

I have found a guitar duet partition by Joan Baptista Pujol
http://en.scorser.com/I/Sheet+music/192273.html

I didn't yet see a Paco & Ramon video with a really good close up of their (especially Ramon) hands.

Presti/Lagoya are my favourites on just about all the pieces they play, but on that particular piece I think Bream and Williams just about beat them.

Good luck with your version — it’s not an easy piece.

Me and my friend Jerome Mouffe also play this and other Falla pieces. I play second guitar here. Before this, when I played it with Steve Lin (check him out - amazing) and Eliot Fisk's wife, I was the lead guitar.

No but you don't include the thumbnail in your post so less people click on your links. Just copy the url instead of using the 'share' button. Either that or Simon needs to update the forum's auto youtube embedding functionality (maybe toddk can help with that?)

Some great posts here. Thank you Grisha for your video, it's nothing short of a master class for the right hand & the generation of killer dynamics. I'll be coming back to this video again and again, plus all the other great videos here.

@minorthang, I sent you a PM

I use ipad for this foro stuff...so I have been forced to 1. us the youtube app everytime a link is offered for youtube, and 2. copy urls as I have been doing, no "share buttons". Sorry. I promise I won't ever be posting click bait spam

Last month we performed this twice. Here's a video from the second performance.
