Yep I'm just under 6' and had to kind of slump down onto the guitar to hold it in place with my right arm. Tried using a very low seat (drum throne) for a while but that wasn't right either. Always got on great with a support for classical guitar but none of them worked well on the right leg. The design of the Flamencoloco (silly name

) is really clever and this guy has great customer support.

I have played Paco style and also in the classical position. Both twist the body and will probably lead to back problems for most of us. Nowadays, I use a support so that both feet can be straight on the ground. The twelth fret is right around my midline. Besides that, the guitar is in a similar position to how Paco holds it. The left shoulder is relaxed, the right one reasonably so.

I have a four gig at a casino every Monday. I recently started playing two sets standing, with a neck strap, and two sets on a chair, to distribute the load on by body. My guitar is light and flat and thus ideal for this. I can play fairly complicated classical pieces, like Barrios and Leyenda, standing up. Plus, it's kind of fun. It feels good to improvise with my looper standing up.

I started to have a numbness over my right knee from the guitar sitting
on that leg for so long.
I recently switched to classical position with a footstool, wich cured the
numbness in my right leg, but now i can feel the new position is messing
with my back.

Anyhoodle, i just pulled the trigger on the Flamenco Loco support.

Thanks for your great review Romb! I will check back here once i receive
it and try it out. I'm sure i will love it. :)

Miguel: I have to say, I have never seen someone with better customer support than Diego. He did the same for me with my custom needs, and I was super pleased.

S. Martins: really try one of these supports. I am not kidding, nor do I have any financial affiliations with Diego, but if it weren't for this support, there would be NO WAY I could have continued to play guitar. This has seriously cured my back & my wrist, which were both suffering. I owe my continued journey with the guitar to Diego & his support. Try the support with the suction cups, and if they don't work for you, consider something different. But I think it's still worth trying Diego's idea with the suction cups...

Lenny: seriously consider buying one. It is a GREAT investment. It saved me tons of money on physical therapy, doctor visits, etc.

Blondie: Yeah, I agree. Diego is really awesome. I feel the name is not super great, but I don't care because the support works wonders. My Cordoba guitar is thinner body than normal, and the suction cups only cover part of the body, but they still hold the instrument up very well. The worst that could happen is one comes undone, and you push it back in place. If you have a 2-inch body guitar like the FCWE, I think Diego can come up with a custom contraption for you.

Todd: I tried the foot-stool, and I got the same problem as you. This support REALLY cured my problems, and I cannot thank Diego enough for it. I seriously would have had to quit guitar had I not found this support...

Yuk hate them!

No I have 3 flamencos and the thinnest one where the suckers overlap edges as I mentioned is my Anders Eliasson blanca. I think the standard design of the flamenco-bong-bongo could therefore have been a little narrower, but its no big deal as you say, the suckers are solid.

PS I bought some cling-on clear plastic film off Ebay to protect the French polish finish, just as a precaution, but am not sure its needed. Will tell over time if the suckers cause any wear I guess.

Just got mine in the mail today! It took 2 weeks to get here, which is longer than Diego estimated.

I am surprised by how small this thing is. I put it on the guitar and was able to start playing in seconds. It is a very simple and elegant design, seems to be well-crafted. Adjusting it is easy. I was able to get a pretty good position almost immediately, but not my ideal one. Probably like all of these supports, there is an element of chance of whether you can get it exactly where you want it. The neck seems to want to give on me a bit and I am finding it a bit clumsy to get my RH away from the soundhole. Nevertheless, I will adjust to that and I will be using it for my gigs.

Show us this info sheet.

Miguel - give it some time... It can take a bit of getting used to. The frame & strap can potentially be made to different dimensions to suit your needs. The ones I had made may not be the same dimensions as the "standard issue" one you got. If you try it & still don't feel as comfortable as you would like, perhaps consider contacting Diego & describing the situation to him. That is what I did with the initial one he sent me, and then he made another one that was specific to my required dimensions, and it was super comfortable. Please keep us updated about your impressions...

Just received my Flamenco Loco support today, and WOW...

Its perfect! It feels so crazy to sit flat footed and play so comfortably
with my back perfectly straight. I'm using it "across the lap" style.

I absolutely love it. It took not time at all to find
the right spot for it, and I felt comfortable immediately.

That makes me so happy, Todd.

I recognize the relief you described above. When I first was able to play so comfortably with use of the support, I finally felt like I was able to connect with the instrument without barriers. Having pain while you play can detract so much from the interaction with the guitar, and being able to make do with that obstacle literally released me to a whole new world of enjoyment. Now, I can just play a bit of pulgar or a bit of rasgueados & I feel like I am Paco de Lucia.

I know this sounds hyperbolic, but if you have had the nuisance of aches & pains every time you play, and you finally were able to find a way around that, you will be able to better identify with the above. Olé!

I also use the "across the lap" style of the support, and it feels so natural. My guitar sounds better now because my torso does not muffle the vibrations anymore. And I can just let it rip & enjoy all the resonance. I feel the guitar is so loud now (despite it being a meager Cordoba) that I at times need to mute the strings a bit with a sponge because I feel some sonic fatigue after a long session of practice.

Have just ordered flamenco loco.....hopefully I've just spent my last ''wad'' of cash on yet another posture caused visit to a physiotherapist!
Being fekkin stupid, I've repeatedly reviseted this thread....reading,pondering,****-arseing about like a moron wondering if it could work for me....READ WHAT HAS BEEN SHARED.....note to self!!!
Its sunk in .....I've ordered.....can't wait. They have an offer on, ''three for the price of two delivered to UK for $79.98''.....£52.05 sterling= the cost of a trip to a physiotherapist!!!!!!! Well prod me hard in the bollox,its got to be worth a go hasn't it?

If you see Ramzi's first post, it says custom support - Ramzi had his made especially and yes its a lot bigger than the standard flamenco model.

you say you don´t care if the cups would affect the laquer of the guitar. I have seen some very bad results on some HSL flamencas, laqered by nitro using different supports. Many classical guitarists in Germany who used first upcoming supports had damaged laquers on nitro and shellack finishings. I wouln´t accept that at all. Strictly for this reason the ErgoPlay support provides cups that doen´t contain any softeners. On polyurethane laquered guitars the finishing won´t be damaged. What type of finishing is your guitar?

My finish is lacquer - that's all I know.

I prefer damaged finish over damaged back/wrist with resulting inability to play & pain in everyday life matters.

The solution to your finish problems is the finish-shield with link posted above.

If it is called just laquer, then it´s always polyurethane

Although the guitar in the video is anything else than a Córdoba GK Studio.

Blondie--sure it's custom. Ramzi's rave review and the specific benefits he talks about getting make the measurement important. Particularly since when he first posted, the 'Trio' was the reference model. Now we have the 'Flamenco Loco' and the 'Classica'. An incautious buyer seeking the same benefits might think the newer and longer Classica gives the same results and be disappointed.

It would be very helpful to know what size Ramzi's custom example is.

I'm not using that anymore. I'm using yet another support that Diego made me which is closer to the Flamenco Loco. The dimensions are as follows:

Strap: 35 cm (length)
Frame: 19 cm (length), 8 cm (width)

The reason I changed is because the newer model has all black leather & black stainless steel frame which is bent to allow easier folding & storage. The older one showed in my video review works just as great. My video review about the older one applies exactly to the newer, current model that I am using & therefore I don't need to supply the dimensions for the older one (makes sense?). Olé!

Yes, it does.

The reason I switched was because I had admittedly exaggerated how high up I was having the neck, and that was creating an angle for my RIGHT shoulder that was a bit too steep which resulted in some RIGHT shoulder discomfort in the long-run, even though for my left hand & right hand, the higher-up neck was superb.

I had to balance several things:

1- left hand comfort (due to bending of the wrist which was a main issue for me given my ganglion cyst operation - the higher-up the neck, the less need to bend the wrist, and the lesser the wrist bending, the lesser the wrist pain)

2- right hand comfort

3- right should comfort

4- overall comfort

Also I had to account for the angle the guitar would appear when recording videos & how it would be captured by the camera & therefore projected onto the monitor/screen. I found this new angle to be optimal for all of the above, and thus I stuck with it.
