Help with thumb blisters!

When doing pulgar techniques, I can't seem to get the nail of the thumb right. Blisters are particularly painful on slow sweep downs on chords.

Would appreciate some tips!

You could put a little super glue (Cyanoacrylate) but really the best thing to do is work through it, it'll callouses up eventually. Mine feels like elephant skin lol

Practice alzapua, then stop before a blister forms. Rest for a day, then practice alzapua again but stop before the blister forms. Rest for another day, then practice alzapua again & stop before the blister forms. Rest for another day, & keep doing the same sequence of events mentioned above until your thumb hardens. Once that happens, showers or some days without practice will not budge the callouses & you're basically good to go.

Cheers!

Also watch out on cold, damp days if you haven't practiced alzapua/heavy pulgar: I make sure I have warmed up my hands before attempting this. Then pace yourself. Do ten minutes, then practice something less abrasive and go back to it after half an hour for another short burst. I find I am more prone to it on such weather conditions, particularly if I have been practicing just classical for a week (like this week when on put some new strings on my CG, but remembered for once to play some FG to ensure my callous doesn't thin out).
