Luthier in NYC

Hi everyone,

Looking for a luthier / repair in NYC. Need basic fret dressing and possibly raising my action. And perhaps the repair of a small crack in the back.

Any suggestions? I only know Retro Fret and Tony at Luthier Music Corp.

Thanks!
Doug

Tony is a good guy IMO. I'm not in NYC but I'll take it on if you want to send it up my way. Or better yet come for a visit! I've got a whole slew of guitars kicking around here including a cedar Ramirez that my client bought from Sabicas in the early 70s, a recent spruce/pegs blanca of my own and a Barbero restoration that is just about done…

CEDAR RAMIREZ FROM THE 70S?!?!?!

Aaron, is this the loaner guitar you give out to clients as they drop their guitars in?

I should and will visit Aaron. An autumn trip up there is on the books anyways.

But for the immediate need of fret dressing, I was hoping for a same day turnaround from someone local.

Looks like Tony it is.

I just talked with Tony Acosta in New York, and I'm sure he would be happy to look at your guitar.

And of course the old Tony whose shop was there, as well as being Sabicas' manager years ago, died from Gangrene complications.

Thanks, Tom and everyone. Sounds like Tony is the guy. I know him and he is one of the greats but didn't realize his repair work was so highly valued as well.

And Aaron, I have been obsessing about cedar ramirez's recently. A Sabicas ramirez would certainly be worth the trip just to hear it.

And Keith, mandolin bros has been on the list for a while to visit. Good to hear that they also do good work.

Thanks, again everyone.

Doug
