These caves are stunning works of art. They are beautiful sculptures carved into beautiful New Mexico sandstone. The one discordant note I found, however, was the statement, "His plan is not only to carve, but paint these sandstone walls." I think to paint the natural color of the sandstone would be a sacrilege. To paint such natural beauty would be to cheapen it. I feel like grabbing him by the lapels and shouting, "No, no, no! Leave them as they are!"
