Camps guitars from spain? 
anybody played or own one? Camps M7 a sexy flamed maple back and sides, ebony fretboard and spruce top with truss rod... a flamenco guitar

how does it sounds and play like? good for money as a starter? workmanship flawless?

I don´t like it because I don´t like maple at all. The primera sounds much more flamenco, much more aggressive bite and sharpness and very good craftsmanship.

but whats the difference in tone with flame maple sides and back? i supposed it be brighter and faster attack in bass response?

A base bass respond is not provided by any maple body flamecas. I only really saw just a few - in opposite to classical guitars where it seems to become more commen than just 10 years ago. Clearly spoken imho it´s not the "respond" of bass but the substancy of bass itself. The responsivity, if the guitar is made properly, is constantly equal through the whole range. Maple provides just a different color in sound. Some like it, some don´t, but I can´t stand it

The best advice is to visit a guitar shop and check some different body woods in the same price range. Then just listen to what you like best and make your own decision. On a blanca I always prefer the aggresive bite of the cypress. If you want more basses, then you´ll need to decide for a negra. Here I would prefer Indian rosewood instead of some "like" woods such as cocobolo. Around 700 € a new negra should be extremely hard to; I´d state it´s impossible.

The negra normally provides not only more basses but a bigger full range.

The main difference is the tapa harmonica. The best guitar I ever played, and I have played a lot, was a Rodriguez, with tapa of cypress, sides and back of maple. Postigo sold it to a Japonés for 10.000 euros

That´s surely not a Camps but it could be a Sanchís López.

I never had the pleasure of playing a Camp M7, but I'm with Ricardo on maple. It's sounds best to my ears, provided all things else are equal.

I looked at your post history, and I see that for more than two years now you've been asking about which starter guitar to buy. You've been given lots of great advice, and there's even more great advice in the foro archives if you search for it.

My advice is to stop asking about it and JUST BUY ONE. Any one. It really doesn't matter which one. You could have been learning/playing flamenco for the past two years instead of agonizing over which guitar to buy. Don't let another two years pass you by. Flamenco requires a lot of commitment. Jump into the deep end and start paddling; hesitantly dipping your toes in isn't getting you anywhere.

Thanks it seems like Camps, Alhambra, cordoba and raimundo are pretty much a miss or hit ...

maybe i can start saving for a sanchez lopez.. seems that the 2F is a sure secure buy..

Yeah your right timoteo... i was abit drawn into flamenco playing after hearing paco de lucia earlier pieces its so raw so nice fast and furious... his playing is so precise at lighting speed haha... i was kinda messed up cause over my years of playing guitars was never serious being an electric player those chugga chugga if you know.. lol

soon just recently my flamenco desires drawn up again and hearing and trying to master simple song "entre dos aguas" with a lousy picado and mock technique lol so bad that i said it here sorry guys... but it seems picado is achievable and am able to getta feel i hope so and thus been looking into good valuable flamenco guitars... so far i guess the secure seat is with Francesco navarro student model but i wonder if he does ebony fretboard upon request with extra up charge.. or to save for a sanchez lopez.. so much for my post and quest please bear with me as i have no chance of testing such guitars in my country...

so did my quest for an acoustic haha it be soon real soon...

I would leave Raimundo out of decision. This name got a bad history. I remember a time when all European distributors declined to accept the guitars of this manufacturer due to very lousy quality. Some genes can be handed down ...

The Sanchís López is a good decision as far as you can handle 660/53 mm. I can´t because of my small hands.

Well.. not trying to tell you "buy the same thing I have" but recently I saw Kremona guitars in Thomann... and they are priced even lower than anywhere else. It looks like it's a fresh deal (Thomann with Kremona) since most of the guitars aren't in stock yet.

Not telling you to buy anything from there either, but if the prices are good there, eventually they'll go down in other places too.

Kremona has maple, cypress, rosewood, all the funky stuff to please you.

Regarding Kremona I found a cypress blanca last year at the Frankfurt Musikmesse. I was very impressed by this guitar. They exhibited a negra, too, but this one was not worthy to talk about.

This year in Frankfurt I have met with Arash, a fellow member here. He told me to have tried the Kremona blanca, called "Rosa Blanca" and was not as impressed as I was the year before. So I went to their distributor´s booth and checked it. I really was disappointed. They surely are no specialists in making flamenco guitars. If they knew some more about flamencas, they surely would have selected a better model to exhibit. The negra sounded very boring, the model of the year before as well. So it could be a risk of Russian roulette to go for a Kremona.

Another option could be the Almansa 447. Although I´d prefer the older version by its particular percussion the newer version have better woods. This guitar is available for round about 1.000 €.

I've never played any other Raimundo but I have one and it's been great to me. I live right next to Guitar Salon and some what regularly waste their time and play all kinds of guitars out of my price range so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what's out there. one BIG variable though is German Vazquez did a set-up on my Raimundo and I didn't own it before that so.........there you go, bunch of useless info........
Just buy one and have at it. I started flamenco with a crap "Dean Espana" around the time you started asking about which guitar to buy.......

Kremona's latest offerings look a bit weird. The tops look very uneven in color, I don't know if that affects sound but I've noticed it in more than one of their guitars from this year.

Maybe something as changed... maybe those guitars at Musikmesse were just bad samples.. nothing better than trying them out.


They don't seem to enjoy extreme humidity levels, I had some issues with that but now it's fixed.

ANY all-solid guitar (or at least with solid top) doesn´t enjoy extreme humidity levels! In colder seasons during the heating period you need to use a humidifyer in the guitar case to prevent cracks. You also will have to check the humidity of the rooms. It should be between 40 and 60, max. 65 %. If you have many plants and flowers in the rooms, then it often won´t be a problem, but you´ll have to check it.

If the house contains lots of nitro cellulosis substancy, then you surely will have to add humidity to the room, because this substancy takes alot humidity out of the room.

It's a local thing, too much humidity here at the moment. At the time I had problems the guitar had just been made and not only it was a rainy winter but also I had my whole house being rebuilt (lots of humidity).

Their guitars have a very flat top construction, I think that's the reason why it can cave in a bit at the center when there's too much humidity. The back is the opposite, it bulges out.

Hey mate, I just received a maple back and sides guitar and just regarding tone, maple definitely sits between cypress and rosewood, it's closer to the rosewood than right at the middle of the scale.
It still has that slight hollow(best way i can describe it) tone that a cypress has and less of the lush overtones that a rosewood has.
I think the maple tone is more midrange with bass; and with less treble emphasis, whereas the cypress is more midrangy with less bass emphasis and rosewood more bass and treble with less midrange emphasis.

Get something from the classified section, used is always better value! :)

My experience is different. I´ve played lots of negras in the last eight years with an emphasized midrange. It´s not the bigger part but it´s obviously.

Yes. A friend of mine tried them and recomends the blanca at round about 1.000 € while the negra is less attractive.
