Wesley Culpepper

I'm trying not to spam people between Facebook and here but thought I would share a quick picture of my son, Wesley who was born 5 days ago.
He's a healthy boy and seems to have strong fingers for future flamenco playing..not to mention some pretty nice nails.

Congratulations!

A good thing how these days babies are allowed to pass exit when they feel like it.
Some time ago, it was thought that they ought to come `on time´ and when they would not it was interfered.
In my case resulting in a 48 hour battle in the delivery room, with use of tools like a forecep and two large men pulling with a twisted sheet over old lady´s belly; and with me hardly ever feeling well rested ever since.

Today birth is rather supposed to be a calm landing, and at that probably very valuably so. Wesley certainly looks as if the trip was okey-dokey.

Let us know from time to time how the new role in life effects / changes you. I find it always interesting to hear of that.

I think it still depends on the situation... my wife was 2 days early but if she had gone 7 days past her due date they would have induced her which we were a bit afraid of. I think they've traded the forceps for some kind of vacuum mechanism, or C/section but I think we just got lucky to avoid all those things. She was a champ and didn't even need an epidural for pain relief. We had a midwife assisting the birth instead of a doctor so that probably helped it all feel pretty natural.

Love the name. Got to be better than the guy I worked with in the States called Manly Love. I kid you not.

I don't have children, but if I had a boy he would be called Bentley. Wesley Culpepper sounds like the title of a Western from the late 60s and he looks like a cute handful.

Wesley Culpepper to my unskilled ears could be a pal of Woody Guthrie, and I think that´d be some really fine company.

Imagine the two swinging their axes against corrupt cops who jump from trucks on striking pickers´open air meeting. hehe |O)

Thanks guys... I think the name does have a Western kinda vibe. Culpepper was orginally an English name but I read an article recently that there are very few Culpeppers left in the UK. It's a much more common name in the Southern US now (my Dad's from Mississippi).
