Holy crap this album is awesome. I was stuck in peak hour traffic this afternoon, and I was wishing for a traffic jam so I could keep listening. All the tracks are strong, there's no lame-a** radio-friendly wallpaper rumba to have to skip over. A very small amount of flute and violin at the very end of the fandango and rondeña respectively, but tastefully done and kept to a minimum. Apart from that this is the full-blooded jerez guitar album many of us have been hoping for. I recommend buying this album - he deserves more for this than a five cent spotify check at the end of the year.

Can it be that we are discussing 2 different artists? Manuel Fernández Molina "Parilla de Jerez" was one of the finest guitarists of his generation: favourite tocaor a La Paquera, he also discovered and nurtured La Macanita.

His only solo CD (1996) is one of the few solo guitar recordings which actually sound flamenco.

Perhaps we are discussing a son, who has little to do with his father? There might also be a violonist.

I believe Manuel Parrilla is the nephew of Parrilla de Jerez, who was the son of Tío Parrilla.

Here is Parilla de Jerez. Mostly known as an accompanist, but here he is solo in a great 8iguiriyas.

Obviously - the man has just recorded an album.

Yes, Manuel Parrilla "hijo de Juan Parrilla, sobrino de Parrilla de Jerez" (his words).
His brothers Juan and Bernardo are probably responsible for the flute and violin mentioned above.

He's been performing since he was about eight years old:

In this one he starts at 1:05 - lousy sound but you get the idea, and worth a listen. Also interesting to hear what happened to the bulería from the early video above after they both grew up (at 6:05):

The only solo CD of the great Parilla de Jerez (Jondura) is worth a listen, if you can find it. Curiously, it was recorded in Houston, Texas

OK, here's the football connection, and a demonstration of how to totally transform a stupid marching song:

Just listened to Parilla de Jerez, while having lunch. The only solo guitarra CD I could tolerate. El sobrino is OK. Muy de Jerez.

But Muddy Waters afterwards was divine
