Couldn't post in the off topic? Who cares about the royals and what good do they do to the suffering spanish people? Just not a big fan of the royals... Seem to be more like TV celebrities these days

RE: España (in reply to Morante

Morante just wants attention, like a 5 year old boy.
Or can someone explain me why he posts always in (sometimes even wrong) spanish?
He knows the mayority don't understand.

I had the idea of a section for spanish speakers and those who would like to learn. What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Cool it Jof, Morante is not provoking anything or anyone. A section in Spanish will give us a moderation headache.

Sadly it will show in the quotes of others. Sorry about that, but the logic to block it is not available.

Don't you think that you're gonna struggle to get flamenco essence if you do not appreciate el Rey?
Somehow it's like to eat churros with cafe con leche and other hobbies. That's part of the cultural mood.

I heard a letra por bule that talked about el rey de los Borbones. I do not remember well, it's something like "de los arboles frutales me gusta mas el melocoton y de los reyes de espana me gusta mas el Borbon"...

Otherwise you also have the Church. We cannot talk about religion but like Chano said :
"vamonos pa' Roma, ke el Padre Santo es muy bueno y a los flamencos perdona".
That's a cultural thing. Like it or not

probaly the other way around ...especially in Andalucia ...Franco got the Royals back in power ,it was changing to be a republic ., and all the spanish civil war stuff went off ...
The Andalucians werent singing about him thats for sure, and the cities of Cadiz , Cordoba and Seville in particular had a lot of problems fighting against the right wing ...but strangely not Malaga , they couldnt quite get started for some reason ....

I have a lot of freinds in a village just outside of Cordoba who had there parents lined up in a plaza and shot ..one day they showed me where as we were talking about it ,...I dont think they are great fans of the new or old king of Spain ............

@mezzo
not the first time, i read stuff like that.
You don't have to like everything what's spanish.
I don't have to like the bullfight, the royals, football etc. But I have to respect people if they're liking it. I met a lot of good artists who have different opinions
It's kind of disrespectful to say everyone has the same opinion about the same topic, just because he's spanish. Some jerezanos are sometimes more german than me hehe. I don't understand those categories. What is spanish?
PS:
People who just liking everything are pretty boring..
And of course not very flamenco. Where's the passion, when there's no hate

if you notice that your compas is getting better after you've eaten tortillas, then you're on the right path!

RE: España (in reply to Morante

yes inspiration. to live the flamenco-way is important. But i don't have to pick up every little detail. To be calm and funny is more important than to like the royals.
One time I read something like the problems on this foro are mostly due to "an influx of younger peopler without social skills"
THIS is not flamenco. It's pretentious and uptight. Playing flamenco-guitar in the midlife crisis: not flamenco as well.
The first thing to do is to calm down a bit and to loose the stick.
No offense..

Ah, cultural relativism.

You may feel you have to respect people if they're liking it; I do not. It’s not the same as I like Beethoven, you like Bach: fellow-creatures are being deliberately tormented.

Sanche de Gramont writes about a mediæval French city that bought a convicted criminal from another city so they could have fun torturing him in public. Do you respect those people?

‘Even the more modest claim that history should teach “mutual respect” for different cultures is suspect. There is much in the history of all peoples that does not deserve respect. How much in which peoples’ histories is a very large question that no one can answer for others with different values. More fundamentally, respect is earned, not conferred. It is not a door prize. Equal respect is a contradiction in terms, since the very concept of respect implies an inequality of esteem and regard. All may be entitled to common decency but not all can receive a higher relative ranking.’

Thomas Sowell, Race and Culture, p. 253

Agreed.
There are expectations. Like torturing. You can't "discuss" about torturing.
Slavoj Zizek has some interesting points about that.
I do not respect everything because it is so called part of the culture.
Like Guantanamo.

I agree. But I prefer to think of Guantánamo as an aberrational excrescence, rather than as part of the culture. At least, that’s what I hope.

"flamenco police"
mmh, then everyone can do their own thing, because they want to express theirselves.
And at the end we have something like that

Because he doesn't need to play in time to "express" his penis.
I'm happy to be part of the flamenco police.
