places to study flamenco in spain th...

I want to go to spain and study soon, but the only way i will be allowed to stay for an extended period without losing my income is if i can study in a place that will be recognised as study (here in aus)

I know there is a place in cordoba that has courses in guitar and cante, but so far i have not found much info (im still using google translate)

I would love it if i could spend a year there but even a few months would be great.

I am applying for polish citizenship (which is no problem because my mother was polish) so eu entry wont be a problem

Or sign up for an easy course in another subject at an institution that is recognised and do the flamenco as well?

i hadnt even considered that.. if i cant find something that may well be the solution

maybe spanish language.... thats going to be such a nightmare for me

If it's not an immigration issue (who will monitor your attendance), then can you just not turn up to classses? Will AUS be checking on progress?

i am on a disability support pension, so i have the option of not receiving that anymore and i can stay there as long as i like. the rule was i could go for 8 weeks on holiday.. which isnt enough (and that rule just changed to 4 weeks) but the support was given to me so that i can improve my quality of life, and i am hoping to be able to spend that money on classes.. its kind of a long stretch, but I have a lot of support from the flamenco scene here, and there is a good chance the government will also support what i am doing.

i have enough money to get there but without an income i am not sure how i would come back

thanks. I plan to move there eventually but I want to come back to adelaide for a while and work with a couple of my friends after i have learned more

There are some conservatories in andalucia, for example jerez and cordoba, but in general I don't know, if your point is to play flamenco for money, I don't think anyone will be looking for papers but skills. Who would you want to recognize your papers of flamenco study?
If you really want to learn flamenco, forget about the conservatories and go to Jerez or granada to learn with the maestros, in any case english language won't be very useful in andalucia

Jerez is a wonderful city. I learned nearly 80 percent of all i know in one month here.
I'll stay here to the end of july. So if you need any tips for teachers, places, bars you can ask if you want.
Spanish knowledge is very important.

tele, the reason im looking into something "recognised" is because there may be an oppurtunity for me to go there to study without losing my income, but the government here would have to recognise it as study..

teachers from the dance studio here are supporting me and will help me explain that going to spain and studying is how most of us in australia go about it

my goals are not really about making money, but if i can show the capacity to make money from flamenco (back here in aus) then there is a possibility that i will get the support i need to stay there for an extended period studying

eventually i intend to move to spain, but this first trip will hopefully be between a few months and a year.

I still think registering for a recognised course in another subject, which is not intensive, is the easier way to go. You can then take lessons in your own time with a local teacher and keep your income.

A part-time TEFL course, for example. This should be recognised in Oz.

Here's one in Malaga over 10 weeks (12 hours tuition a week) for €1,175

A TEFL qualification is also really handy for earning some pocket money in Spain as English is a very popular subject.

the only think i see that could be a problem with that idea, is it will be hard to explain why i need to go to spain to study something that i could study here. I may need to think of things that are not available in australia to study, but that i can there

I don't think you can REALLY study flamenco in australia, so maybe you can explain that flamenco is half culture, half music or something like that?

If Centrelink supports you going overseas and studying anything at all , please keep us informed. It would be interesting to hear the details. That being said I highly doubt they will especially considering all that major changes happening within the Establishment in relation to the budget and drastic cutback of payments as of Jan 1st next year.

Cristina Heeren institute in Seville?

I think Paco Serrano got a degree from Paco Peña's course in Rotterdam so he could teach in the conservatory in Cordoba, so you could check him out.

withinity, i feel positive they will eventually crack and let me do it, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through. if centrelink doesnt let me then i will probably just sort out some struff here then move to spain
