Amazing as his style is, it didn't seem to translate too much in this context IMO.

I like Myrddin but I gotta say, from such a monstrous and creative solo player, his accompanying is fairly stock, even the escobilla. Loved all the falsetas in between though and the silencio was awesome. All and all I liked it, I just expected Myrddin to have some sort of wacky interesting twist on it.

The video of Ana Llanes playing guitar made me laugh.

Her facial expressions during the performance are really funny too; a refinement of air guitar.

pink - that was a knee-jerk reply when I saw the names in your post, I had planned to share it here and thought it would be appropriate to tag onto your post - glad you enjoyed it - sorry I didn't address your post, that was kinda rude - I plan to watch the video tonight

olé. thanks for sharing, he's a great player and composer.
"intellectual" compositions but played with feeling and fire.
however, I have to say that his libre accompaniment (are these minera letras??)
wasn't good. it seems that he's not really interested in cante.
I prefer his solo stuff, because he's closer to baroque and then to flamenco.

I would like to see the notation of this

Good share jof....I love this piece , just awesome..... my favourite version .....

hope you don't mind?
I agree that he may appear a little disinterested in cante .....perhaps some of the ''texture'' of his style is lost in translation with the recording quality of the original post? Or not?!!
If not ,then its perhaps a blessing for us at a lower level of playing....you may be a monster player as a soloist but can still not be a master of the whole package?
Alternatively he may have had some trapped wind which was putting him off his chops.....he did get up rather quickly at the end of the piece!!

Hey pink, I thought I was the only one that read my posts?

I always feel a bit odd criticizing talented and passionate players, but what better time as I sit here on the couch in my sweatpants.

I didn't recognize the singer or dancer. Good performance, all three are clearly skilled but it didn't quite get there for me. The quality is obviously leaving a lot to be desired as well - the guitar was nearly impossible to hear at some points. As a fan, I will say it's exciting to see him working in this context. I think his wild style could be tamed just enough with the right cantaor. I also wouldn't say he's not interested in cante, I just really think that he needs a stronger singer to challenge him to hold back a bit.

I think cuz he's accompanying. When you accompany, I think you need to stick with the dancer/singer and don't do some crazy ass stuff that would make them look at you going "wtf". Like the llamada, think he can't do some weird syncopated rhythm cuz he needs to lock in more or less with her footwork.
That IMO of course cuz I'm a baby at accompanying dancers.

Ricardo please comment?
