Actually I just chose it because it's a classic and a great song. It seems to be just as complicated as any real jazz piece. I am interested to know the methods applied in creating it and possible improvisation over it., I don't think it will be too complicated to me to understand as I'm not planning to play it, just understand the structure of the choice of notes/scales between the arpeggios. Therefore if it's my level or not I think is irrelevant as I understand music theory, my point was to expand my understanding of improvisation and choice of notes between arpeggios, not to learn to play a song, so you're welcome to explain it if you still want to.

OK. I am a little confused as to why you chose The Girl From Ipanema then when you could have chosen anything..

But yes you are right it was not helpful for me to spend my time analysing a piece for you that you don't want to play. Luckily my time was not totally wasted, at least I now understand the tune a little better than I did last time I looked at it.

The guy who gives the best advice on that thread is Called Ed Byrne and another BWV something or other. Be careful because a lot of the rest are merely repeating things they've been told but don't really understand.

If you are working on a piece for real you might want to discuss it there or check the archive.

I won't be discussing music theory here any more, it's not really what we do.
