Conde question - two signatures

Hi
Finally got my first Conde media luna
Such a magnificent sound and feel
A personal holy grail ... Really happy
Anyway
If anyone could help explain why there are two signatures on a seperate label? Or where to direct this inquiry
It was made in 1986

I dont know the first but the second is the mariano signature

isn't Felipe V the street named after a king not the name of the shop owner?

I thought the Conde shop on Felipe V was run by Felipe Conde and Mariano Conde so you could email either or both now they are at separate shops?

Mariano senior was still alive in 1986. The earliest label I have seen with the Felipe V address is 1985. It too had a small panel below the main label with the same two signatures. It was also signed my Mariano senior on the main label. This was presumably a period when they were working out how the business(es) would continue without Mariano senior and Faustino. The rest is history!

Yep, I've got a Carillo, Paco model guitar and the signature is the same.

The naming of the "Felipe V" shop has/had nothing whatsoever to do with Felipe Conde.

The shop just happened to be located on a street that was named for King Felipe (Philip) V who lived from 1683 to 1746. He was the first of the Bourbons to sit on the Spanish throne and was a a grandson of Louis IV of France.

I sent an image and emailed to the Felipe v shop

It isn't much to look at but that SOUND!!
No cracks or repairs and other than playing wear is in excellent condition

The story is this was made for Enrique De Melchor but played by his accompanying guitarist and eventually sold in Germany
Truth or fiction ... Doesn't really matter

I also had the choice of this and a 73 faustino peg head for the same trade/money
Hard choice which took two days of playing both
This one contained the magic ...
Drove a total of 3000km to do the deal
My girlfriend and I enjoyed the road trip and it was her opinion on the sound that helped me make the right choice
The faustino was a much nicer guitar aesthetically but this was the more expressive instrument

Odd thing is it only seems to like Savarez red card trebles
The la bella and luthier trebles just seem lacking while the savarez make it come alive ..
Figure that's one less choice in life and stops my experimenting with string orders which was fairly constant with my Ramirez and caceres ..

My 1985 Mariano Conde has two labels as well, signed by Mariano and both sons. Some great guitars made during this period apparently.

No see, they realized in Spain long ago that Conde guitars are the BEST, so they named a bottle of wine after Faustino Conde, and later a street after his nephew Felipe. Wasn't long before kings simply had to change their names too cuz that is how freaking cool those Conde guitars are. And history books recently updated to included revised kings names, etc. That's how it went down, the rest is smoke and mirrors.

The negra went the week before I bit the bullet
I had played that Blanca a good 8 years ago .. It left such an impression on me that I would literally move mountains to get it..

i read felipe worked at the felipe v. site and mariano was the senior family member there and made the assumption....damn, crow and shoe leather does not taste good.

there is no Conde shop at Felipe V anymore.
Felipe Conde is at C/ Arrieta 4, and Mariano Conde is at Calle de la Amnistía, 1

Al I would try some other strings besides saverez red for the top and red augustine for the basses which he recommends. The seller I know prefers those strings but as you know, he has a particular style of playing which may not be yours.

Thanks for the tip
I have luthier basses on at present which work a treat
Think the savarez bring out the trebles better than some others I tried on for a few days ..
But have lots of random treble sets I could try ..

I have the Negra and it has the savarez trebles which do sound good but they are expensive and dont last long. I will give Daddario J45 and see what they are like.

By the way Ricardo, when we met Felipe, do you remember the dates he said when he said the guitars were NOT built in his workshop.

Pimientito , what are the dates ? please ,what years?

I m earing the early 90 felipe V ,when the fathers died, are made by sanchis .

Si i have a sanchis with conde stamp.

I cant remember the dates. It was strange because Felipe came into Gerardos guitar class last year and talked a little about "getting back to traditional construction". He made a big point of saying that the guitars from his workshop would now only be made by him and his luthiers and he almost sounded apologetic, which was weird.
However he left us with more questions. He never really explained why the partnership broke up, only that he wanted to get back to a more traditional way of producing guitars and never explained the exact relationship between Sanchis and Conde Hermanos which was what I was hoping.
He did say though that between certain dates that it was likely that many instruments didn't originate from the Conde workshop but did not elaborate any further.

I missed it cuz after I asked about finish I got an earful from Julio sitting next to me while Felipe was talking and you were going back and forth with him. He was saying Sanchis does all the finish work because "felipe and mariano don't know how...ha ha ha"....that they were taking classes from sanchis in french polish technique and in the end they failed and just have them do all the guitars.

It's all rumors. And further I am sort of past caring so much, I know by the feel some guitars coming out of the shop in mid 2000's felt "different", but could be the wood. So many say they simply don't build a darn thing so who knows? I would email him to clarify dates if you are really curious. The new Felipe guitars I have played (I played maybe 3 or 4 now) feel very much like the mid 90's ones I am used to.

Gerundino is harder for Americans to spell, Hairoondeeno, so they went with Conday.

The second his brother Mariano

Appreciate the help and humour

Got to spend a decent amount of time with it today
Much needed work on technical drills ..
Hope to upload something worthy in a few weeks
