Nino de Pura Austin Texas next Tomatito!

I saw Nino de Pura in Austin Texas last week. It was an amazing show! I believe it was his first time in the U.S.
He started out the show playing solo Alegrias, Fandangos, and for the last minute of the piece his percussionist would "sneak" on stage and play. It created a dramatic effect and
helped with the compas as he played his amazingly fast picado passages. Some of his picado phrases lasted for two compases. He performed with a cantador that played palmas most of the time, a bailador who also played palmas most of the time, and a percussionist. The show really showed off NdP's technique, musicality, and mastery of flamenco.
Non-guitarists may have wanted more cante and baile.http://www.foroflamenco.com/micons/m15.gif Austin is becoming a mecca for flamenco!
Tomatito is coming in February - it should be equally amazing.

I felt the same excitement when i saw him for the first time, not on stage i'm afraid but on spanish television... the included 2 compas picado run was indeed very impressive, as well as his overall musicality. I like him a lot.
