Spanish Visa

I've done some searching on the forum but haven't found much discussion on this issue, so thought I'd start a new thread. I'm considering spending an extended period (over 3 months, possibly up to a year) in Spain soon to study flamenco. As an American, I can stay in Spain for 90 days out of any 180 day period without a visa. Obviously this is not ideal for my aims. Does anyone know if its possible to get a visa to study flamenco? I suppose that if I enrolled in a long program like Cristina Heeren instead of learning "on the street", the school could help me get a student visa, but short of that, does anyone have any ideas on how to stay longer than 90 days?

Go to Morocco and back to Spain every 90 days.

Have you tried this?

It seems to me that according to the rules, I can only stay in Spain for 90 days out of 180 day period. So, I'd have to stay in Morocco for 90 days in order to wait for the 180 day period to be refreshed. If you have other experience, please elaborate!

Sorry, I skimmed over some of the details. I should really get more sleep. I know some people that have done this but I don't think it was ever for the sort of time period you're looking at. I think you can get two Schengen visas and you might be able to extend your stay to six months in the year that way. But I think you will probably have to apply for temporary residence. Your best bet is to contact the Spanish consulate and see what all your options are.

What you need is a Passport belonging to a European Country for that zone, the name elapses me at the moment.

If the school qualifies under the Spanish system you might apply for an extended visa but you'll need check with the school and your local Spanish Consulate.

Otherwise it is 90 days and another 90 days outside of Spain. My wife had no problems coming and going in this manner from Mexico to Spain.
