"Flexinail", does it work ...

I've read many testimonials about this "Flexinail" product. They claim it grows strong, flexible natural nails, and also works well for guitarists.

I was curious to see if anybody on the Foro had tried this stuff, and what their experience was.

Anybody used the stuff?

I use Catherine Gel at a local nail design studio and found out that it works best for me. After trying different methods for years I made a test with gel nails. It lasts up to 2.5 months, gives a strong tone and looks naturally - whether the nail designer is not using high gloss type.

Note
The gel is the new Catherine gel that came out in summer 2012 (new mixture). The older made problems and is discontinued. Its version name is For Professional Only and consists of a primer and the gel provided in several layers.

fingernail products promoting growth are probably up there with magical mixtures for youthful looks and vigor and, in joe theisman's case, prostates that give men fits. i read their webpage and then googled fingernail health and read the mayo clinic's recommendation. i think the mayo clinic may be onto something.

that said, i like a product called "no more wraps" which is a formaldehyde free and consists of a bonding agent and pulvarized kevlar. the lamination of kevlar and nail results in a tougher nail that has flexibility.

britguy--the usual stuff although on page 2 they suggest biotin may help.

There used to be something that was associated somehow with horses hooves, that was supposed to really make your nails incredibly strong. I can’t remember the name, but I’m pretty sure it began with a “B”. Sounded something like Bariel. Anybody remember what that was?

Too bad, Lukie!

Are you going to take advantage of their '100 day refund'?

Found it! - Barielle.

http://www.amazon.com/Barielle-Nail-Strengthener-Cream-Ounce/dp/B00007KQF3/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

But it seems - like everything else - they changed and diluted the formula, but anyway the older reviews all rave about it.

I've been using a natural product that I found on the net. It's called New Nails Hardener by No Miss. No formaldehyde. After playing a while, it peels off like an onion skin. When that happens I just reapply some more.

I rarely use nail hardener but when I do, I use one that has formaldehyde. I dont know if formaldehyde is the culprit but I never used a more effective nail hardener. I end up only using it sparingly (when the nail ends are "softer" and prone to crack) and only at the tips.

I had many problems until I started using Onymyrrhe - works great. I also supplement with Nailtiques 2: you can buy these through Strings by Mail.

I am using all my nail products from http://www.iloveno1.com. They have a good quality product and the nail polish is fast drying and last for many days.

It is, and most nail-hardeners contain varying amounts of formaldehyde.

I have read from Grisha and Jason that they now use this product.

It's called Players nails..

Grisha can be seen using them in a one of his videos...

Brittle fingernails

The finding that biotin supplements were effective in treating hoof abnormalities in horses and swine led to speculation that biotin supplements might also be helpful in strengthening brittle fingernails in humans. Three uncontrolled trials examining the effects of biotin supplementation (2.5 mg/day for up to six months) in women with brittle fingernails have been published (29-31). In two of the trials, subjective evidence of clinical improvement was reported in 67-91% of the participants available for follow-up at the end of the treatment period (29, 30). One trial that used scanning electron microscopy to assess fingernail thickness and splitting found that fingernail thickness increased by 25% and splitting decreased after biotin supplementation (31). Although the results of these small uncontrolled trials suggest that biotin supplements may be helpful in strengthening brittle nails, larger placebo-controlled trials are needed to assess the efficacy of high-dose biotin supplementation for the treatment of brittle fingernails.

I've started taking this as my nails have gone to the dogs. I even had a chunk break off while playing. Interesting the connection to horses hooves. I am not optimistic but I'll try anything now. I was using super glue and but I now suspect it of being detrimental and have switched to Sally Henson hard as nails. If the Biotin is a miraculous fix I'll report back.

Aeolus, that stuff pales into insignificance compared to OPI Nail Envy. Maybe not good enough for a regular performer but two or three coats overnight works really well for me.

Mavala is the stuff for me. I use it once a month, it leaves nothing on the nail and they get harder than with any other product i've tried.
