Krazy Glue-Baking Soda nails? 
The other day I read that a common fix to nut slots being too low is to mix bone dust (or baking powder<soda??>) with crazy glue and use it as material to raise the slot height.
Then I remembered reading of the technique of incorporating toilet/tissue paper with krazy glue onto the fingernails.

I've tried that and it's awkward and breaks up unevenly.

Has anyone tried to make a slurry with krazy glue and a powder to make the krazy glue even tougher?

thoughts?

I think bone dust would work better as its difficult to make baking soda very fine. But I really would not like to try either one unless absolutely necessary

huzzah!

I'm thinking though that an inert material like bone would be more consistent in light of the chemical properties of baking powder and soda.

though I suppose one could just make the slurry and put it on an old shoe and see what happens.

clearly I have no scientific training here.. :)

my trouble is that I get a little divot in my nail where there is apparently a repeated constant point of contact , and the constant hitting of that initial part of the nail creates a notch.

Then when I file the notch out, I have to get rid of a lot of otherwise good nail. And the whole nail gets too short just cos of one tiny part.

So I'm trying to make the ends of my nails hard as stone to help the situation. Otherwise, they're strong and healthy.
Krazy glue alone has been the best solution. I've tried many other products on the nails, and I take Biotin. Never done the acrylic thing.. don't want to get addicted. ;)

Basically I thought of bone dust as it seems to be best material to filling nut slots, as I tried baking soda and couldn't get if fine enough to make a good slot fix. Maybe if I will break a nail someday I will try the bone dust fix myself. Or maybe even file some nails from my left hand and somehow gather the dust and apply a bit of it to the crack and then apply a small drop of superglue on top. A bit difficult maybe but I suppose it can make a good fix for those who don't get good results with glue alone. I have always just filed the nail until the crack is gone but this isn't the best solution obviously if it's a big one... I would like to hear if someone gets a good fix with bone dust. Or why not use it as a sort of reinforement

ive tried all that stuff thru the years. anything you glue on yr nails will 1. prevent the nail from growing so you will always have the problem and 2. probably break off worse than it was originally. the original flamencos were working folks and didn't have nails, the whole playing with yr nails thing started only awhile ago. learn to play with nails and without and ya know something it really doesn't matter greatly.

I remember reading some time ago what flamencos did was not wash their hands as the water soften the nails. Someone recommend Nail Tek Intensive Therapy II and I have applied it a few days ago and I think this stuff is going to do the job. It smells like what we used to call model airplane dope It is designed as an undercoat to polish which of course I have skipped and is supposed to bond the nail laminations together.

I heard that too I don't think water will do much but dish soap will destry yr nails.

Baking soda gets granular and is sharp as it breaks, and it does not last.
If you want to build a nail surface try getting powdered acrylic nail material at a beauty supply store.

Just cover the first half of your nail and let the back half breathe. You can also go to the nail salon an ask them to cover half the nail. Unlike crack, heroin, smoking or coffee, you can walk away when you want to kick. Cold turkey no problem, three weeks of letting them grow and you're good again. While you have salon nails you can go and have them touch them up every three weeks to month.

A small swatch of rayon- silk is good too. Buy an old fine grain silk women blouse that is white made of rayon silkish material an cut little half moons out of it an glue them on with super glue.

I do it once a month after work Boots, beard, measuring tape and all, it's funnier when you don't tell them why you want it and just let them be baffled by it. "You want color???" "Not today thanks"

It's awesome because some hot & foxy Vietnamese woman is playing footsies with your hand while she does you nails. Don't forget to tip her more than the other ladies tip her and she will remember your guitar playing nails a do them prefect every time.

Are you man enough for that?

I went to a salon for years and had the acrylic put on. It was a bit embarrassing the first time and a little weird when I'd try a new place, but so what. Nails for days that never break, done better than I could have at home. They are very stiff though, really too stiff, but I'd tell them to put it on a little thinner and it worked pretty well. I even took a tax deduction for nail care and when I was audited the IRS questioned it. I explained it and they allowed it.

At one point I started studying with a guitarist from Madrid who didn't put anything on his nails. I asked him how he played for dance like that and he goes "like this" and does some loud rasquedos. I haven't used anything since. Sometimes nails broke, but usually when I did something sloppy, and you just keep playing.

On a more troublesome note I heard that acrylic can cause nail fungus. That never happened to me while I was doing it, but about a year ago I got a fungus under my thumb nail on my rhythm hand. It got so bad my whole nail actually just came off. It grew back but is deformed now. I've been treating it but it's still messed up. I'm only playing occasionally at home these days but if this had happened when I was playing out a lot, it would have been a disaster.
