Valeriano Bernal 2010 model Moraíto...

Valeriano Bernal 2010 model Moraíto Chico number 8 with case. Price: 4,000 euros. The guitar was built according to the specs of Moraíto, whose signature appears on the label. I suppose this is one of several guitars that Moraíto was going to sell at a small shop that he opened in his Santiago neighborhood (you can see some of the Morao family in this shop in the Dutch documentary “El cante bueno duele”). After Moraíto’s passing, the guitar was given away in a contest organized last year by a local newspaper. The guy who won the guitar is a local aficionado whose daughter is married to my friend’s son. My friend and his son asked me to help look for a buyer. I know them well enough and trust them but said I would help only if I could play the guitar first. In my opinion, it’s a very good guitar, it looks and feels completely new and is worth the money. I spent some time checking for intonation and playing different techniques (hard and soft rasgueados, arpeggios, picado, alzapúa, etc.) and kinds of chords (standard and open-string variations up and down the neck) and the sound and “action” are uniform throughout. I can provide photos of the guitar and scanned images of press coverage of the awarding in which you can see the owner with the guitar, Diego del Morao and other people.
